Coronation Street Soap Scoop! Todd’s escape pla

Coronation Street‘s George Shuttleworth is facing a tough decision – but he’s not going down without a fight. The undertakers was almost put up for sale by George and Christina Boyd after George’s professionalism was questioned and the couple experienced serious financial strain.

Despite being preoccupied with the revelation of the abuse Todd Grimshaw has experienced at the hands of Theo Silverton, George and Christina are forced to focus on the future of the undertakers in scenes set to air next week.

George was overwhelmed when people he had helped over the years in his position banded together to encourage him not to sell the business to his rivals, Rest Easy.

However, his financial problems still loom over him after losing his court case against Annie King and being forced to pay her costs.

Annie, the daughter of a deceased client, accused George of manipulating her mother into changing her will to include him, which he denied.

She launched a fierce smear campaign against George that damaged his reputation, as well as taking him to court and winning the case, with the modified will being ruled as invalid and forcing George to pay back the money, as well as substantial legal fees.

Christina urges George to give the undertakers a reboot by taking out a large advert in the Gazette – could this be the driving force the business needs to get back on its feet?

“George isn’t out of the woods yet,” explains our Corrie source. “It was very touching when past customers banded together and urged him not to sell the business to Rest Easy – but that still won’t pay the bills!

“George needs business to start pouring in quickly, so Christina’s idea could be just what they need. Can he fight back after all the bad publicity he’s received?”

Coronation Street‘s struggling George Shuttleworth confesses that he may be forced to sell his failing business next week. The funeral parlour has been in crisis ever since George faced a lawsuit from ruthless Annie, but when crafty Christina Boyd hatches a plan, is it really too late to save Shuttleworth’s?

After George’s court case, he despairs and tells his worried sister Glenda that it looks as though he’ll have no choice but to sell the business to his rivals RestEasy – at a knock-down price.

Annie recently won her legal fight with George, even though her allegations of fraud were bogus. George was distraught when he was told to pay back the money he supposedly owed to her, as well as covering her expensive legal costs. It’s no wonder that he’s now facing financial and professional ruin…

“George never could’ve imagined that he’d be considering selling up his traditional family business to a corporate chain, let alone to his enemies on the cheap,” explains our Corrie insider.

“With a lack of customers and his reputation in tatters, George feels that this may be the only smart choice he has left, even if it means hanging up his hat as an undertaker. It’s a very sorry situation.”

Devastated to see her despondent partner facing such a dreadful decision, protective Christina becomes determined to save George’s business.

In secret, she comes up with a new plan to help the down-on-his-luck undertaker, but will it be too late to change anything?

“So far, Christina’s meddling has only landed Shuttleworth’s in more trouble, but she means well,” continues our source.

“Whatever her plan is, it could be George’s last chance to save his business and hold on to his career. We just hope it’s a good one…”

Will Christina’s plan work? Or will George be forced to sell his beloved business and give up his family legacy for good?

The scenes play out shortly before a huge turning point in George’s other ongoing storyline. He’s currently worried sick about his close friend and business partner Todd Grimshaw, who’s about to break his silence over Theo Silverton’s abusive behaviour in emotional scenes next week.
