HOTTES NEWS TODAY!!! Coronation Street fans hail “masterpiece” special episode as Todd speaks out: “One of the best ever”
Coronation Street fans have heaped praise on Wednesday’s special episode, in which Todd Grimshaw spoke out about his experience of abuse from partner Theo Silverton. The heartbreaking installment came after shocking scenes earlier this week in which Theo brutally attacked him.
Tonight, a visibly injured Todd had his injuries photographed at the police station before speaking to Lisa Swain and Kit Green about what he had endured as part of the harrowing ongoing storyline.

Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd, has come in for huge acclaim from viewers; as has Vicky Myers, who delivered a powerful monologue as Lisa at the end of the episode.
Taking to X, one person said: “Today’s #Corrie is a bit of a masterpiece. Probably one of the best episodes of the year. Gareth Pierce, Tony Maudsley, Tina O’Brien, Vicky Myers and Donnaleigh Bailey were especially good and Lisa’s monologue about domestic violence was a fantastic piece of writing by Debbie [Oates].”

“And this right here, this is what soaps do best,” another viewer posted. “Raise awareness. Corrie cast and crew, take a bow!
The Stateside Street Podcast wrote: “Tonight’s episode of #corrie was genuinely so powerful. Nothing felt forced, and that final monologue was truly needed. Huge credit to the incredible cast and crew. Gareth Pierce delivered such a moving performance. This will help so many people.”

“Tonight’s Coronation Street is 22 minutes full of emotion dealing with a distressing, heartbreaking storyline,” another viewer said. “Both Gareth Pierce and Vicky Myers acting outstanding. No spoilers but one of the best episodes ever with a powerful message. Don’t miss it.”
Going forward, next week’s scenes will see Todd plan to escape from the Cobbles to visit mum Eileen and brother Jason in Thailand.
“Whether Todd makes it to Thailand is anyone’s guess,” our Corrie source teased. “These scenes take place just before the Street’s mystery murder, where Theo is one of five characters who could be killed off.
“Sadly, Theo always seems to have a plan and he won’t let Todd go easily, despite everything that’s happened.
“Could there be another frightening showdown ahead? Or will Todd get to safety for a while?”
Fans have been hailing Coronation Street as it aired a ‘heartbreaking’ episode in which Todd Grimshaw bravely revealed the domestic abuse he has been suffering.
Viewers of the ITV soap on Wednesday (April 15) said they were ‘sobbing’ and ‘in bits’ as they saw the undertaker, who has become a shell of himself due to the horrifying actions of his husband, Theo Silverton, giving his statement at the police station.
While the abuse has been happing for months, during Monday’s (April 13) episode of Corrie, viewers saw the aftermath of Theo locking Todd in their bedroom overnight. Todd tried to convince Theo that he will move away with him, and that he’ll help him with his struggles, before the abuser finally relented.
With Theo heading for a shower, Todd took his chance to escape, only to find the flat door locked. Soon, Theo appeared, jingling their keys, and having caught Todd trying to leave him, he launched a violent and vicious attack which later left Todd bloodied and unable to stand while heading to Sarah’s flat for help.
In Wednesday’s (April 15) episode of Corrie, specially dedicated to the abuse storyline, Todd was seen getting his injuries documented at the police station when he locked eyes with another domestic abuse victim. It stopped him in his tracks as she appeared horrified by what she could see.
Todd was then heard telling Kit and DS Lisa Swain the true extent of what he’s been facing at the hands of Theo. He told them about the secret camera footage he’d collated to prove what was going on. He also mentioned that the late Billy Mayhew was the only one aware of the cameras, and that they’d attempted to leave Debbie Webster’s wedding early so that they could come up with an escape plan.
Theo found them, and joining them for the journey back to Weatherfield, disaster struck when the minibus was caught up up in a horrifc crash which claimed the vicar’s life – after Theo intervened and stopped him escaping the vehicle before it went up in flames.
While Todd was giving his statement, back on the street, Gary Windass cornered Theo and threatened him with a wrench. With Gary making it clear that no one would know if he were to attack him, Theo followed his orders and climbed into the van, and the pair made their way to the police station where Lisa was later seen questioning the abuser, after Kit was seen arresting him for ABH and false imprisonment.
After trying to push the blame onto Todd, Theo was held for the night in custody by Lisa. Meanwhile, Sarah took Todd to the hospital, where he collapsed outside the building and was rushed to be helped by paramedics waiting nearby.
As this was going on, Lisa was heard discussing domestic abuse with her colleague, PC Jess Heywood, with a number of scenes showing its impact on a series of extras that were featured throughout the episode, all of which had a flyer for a domestic violence survivors support group, in the colour purple, which is Corrie’s nod to the colour used globally to represent domestic violence awareness, seen as a symbol of peace, courage, survival, and dedication to ending abuse.
And the special episode saw Corrie fans flock to social media to heap praise on the soap and those involved. @TheConnorSwains said: “Today’s episode of #Corrie is outstanding. It’s hard-hitting, powerful, and deeply important. Huge credit to everyone involved. Genuinely one of the most powerful episodes of tv I’ve seen.”
“The evidence photos being taken of Todd has been one of the most disturbing and upsetting things I have seen on Corrie yet. It’s so raw and genuinely heartbreaking. And then the shared look between him and the female abuse victim was so f**ing sad. #Corrie.” @Emmmmmer commented: “Just finished watching #corrie and all I can say is WOW!! What an incredibly important episode and well done by every single person involved. As someone who works with vulnerable people and abuse victims, I am blown away. Will take me a while to process that masterpiece.”
@eternitydropped posted: “What an episode. Gareth Pierce Vicky Myers Jacob Roberts. Take a bow. The self-blame. The justification. Lisa and Kit treading the fine line of no invalidating these thoughts while trying to get Todd to see how evil Theo was. No words. #Corrie.” @moonstarfem added: “Today’s episode was absolutely incredible! So emotional & powerful. Very well done @itvcorrie! It’ll be interesting to see how Todd copes with the aftermath of the abuse. He doesn’t yet realise how brave he was for finally leaving Theo #corrie.”
