Fans can expect fireworks as the inevitable happens, with Kevin finding the incriminating message despite Carl’s efforts to delete it.

A forbidden chemistry between Abi and Carl developed in the spring and it didn’t take long for them to act on their feelings for each other.

Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi, recently shared her mixed feelings over the storyline – as it’ll inevitably mean working less with long-time co-star Michael Le Vell.

“This storyline – as brilliant as it is and I am loving it – does mean that potentially I might have to work less with Mike Le Vell who plays Kev Webster in the future,” Sally told us in August.

“That has been really tough because I feel like we’re married! We’re ‘work wife, work husband’ – we have that relationship and he’s got my heart forever.

“He’s my friend and I’ll see him outside of work and all will be well. But I’m going to miss working with him because he’s a dream and I adore him.”

Coronation Street star Sally Carman-Duttine has taken her co-stars as well as fans by surprise as she debuted her dramatic makeover on social media over the weekend.

The actress is best known for playing Abi Webster in the ITV soap, having joined back in 2017, and in that time, she has faced a number of hard-hitting storylines, including her drug addiction, the tragic murder of her son Seb Franklin, and, more recently, her affair with Carl Webster behind her husband Kevin’s back.

And Sally, who also previously starred in Channel 4 drama Shameless, recently told how her journey to the cobbles wasn’t a simple one, admitting she could have auditioned for up to 40 roles.  Passion for Coronation Street's Abi confirmed as she's attracted to relative | Soaps | Metro News

Speaking to The Sun, the soap star said: “I auditioned easily more than 40 times over the years for different parts. And I have had about 10 screen tests for different characters. You have to audition for Corrie – no one is special and there is no way around it.”

While it may have taken time to get onto the cobbles, Sally recently confirmed that fans will be seeing her playing Abi until at least 2027 as she’s signed another year-long contract. Speaking exclusively to Radio Times at the TV Choice Awards, she confirmed: “Just signed for another year, which is great. My goodness, I love it. It’s my favourite job I’ve ever done.”

But away from her Weatherfield alter-ego, Sally has unveiled a huge change, as her short blonde locks are now a cherry red. Sharing snaps of her hair transformation on Instagram, she said: “Who dis? [strawberry emoji]. Thank you @leahrileyhair for always going above and beyond. There is no one like you!”

And her co-stars rushed to respond. DS Lisa Swain star, and Sally’s off-screen bestie, Vicky Myers gushed: “Wow! Wow! Wow! [flame emoji] gorgeous.” Claire Sweeney, who plays Cassie Plummer, said: “Stunning [heart emoji].” Toyah Habeeb actress Georgia Taylor responded: “Obsessed and also (I like to think) partly responsible.”

Catherine Tyldesley, who returned to the soap as Eva Price last year, replied: “Omg obsessed [love heart eyes emojis].” Leanne Battersby star Jane Danson commented: “Ooo hello [heart emojis].” Namesake Sally Dynevor, who plays Corrie’s Sally Metcalfe, simply responded with love heart and heart eyes emojis as Debbie Webster star Sue Devaney shared: “Very wow! Very beautiful! Very lady in red! Very stunning indeed.”

Shona Platt actress Julia Goulding typed: “Fit Fire cracker!” Newcomer Olivia Frances Brown, who stars as Jodie Ramsey, wrote: “Love it !!! This colour suits you so much,” while fellow newbie Beth Nixon, who plays Megan Walsh, penned: “Oh I LOVE it.” George Shuttleworth actor Tony Maudsley also added: “You foxy minx!! This is gorgeous!!”
