Vanessa set to be saved by Charity in Emmerdale amid Dr Todd’s true colours Katie Baillie4-5 minutes 5/5/2026

Emmerdale’s Vanessa hasn’t got a great track record with women, or for having a good nose to sniff out a wrong’un.
She counts Charity as an ex, her last girlfriend Suzie cheated on her with Mary (Louise Jameson), and now she’s getting the hots for vile Dr Todd (Carolien Harker) who’s been bullying Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and trying to undermine him to those who’ve watched him grow up. Sometimes it’s better to just stay single.
But you can’t blame Vanessa, she’s lonely and Dr Todd is single and living in her house. Vanessa has been carrying a little torch for Todd since she arrived, but with a little encouragement from Mary, she’s ready to make her move.
She doesn’t know that Dr Todd lied about Jacob stalking her, or that she faked her evidence against him, or even that she holds a secret that could destroy many villagers’ lives.
Vanessa is also completely unaware that Todd’s manipulation of Jacob is still ongoing – he tries to apologise to the doctor at her dad’s funeral to which Dr Todd pretends she’s accepted, all the while plotting something else. Jacob is far from safe.

But Vanessa isn’t safe either. Mary notices a spark between the two women and orchestrates it so that Vanessa asks Caitlin Todd out on a date. Vanessa is thrilled when she agrees and it seems to be all systems go. She doesn’t realise she’s helping keep Todd in the village to terrorise those around her.
Todd then takes a moment to toy with Jacob by telling him she knows a secret that could destroy him, alluding to him not being the father of his baby. Oh, what a wicked woman she is.
Todd then learns she has inherited her dad’s house but tells Vanessa she can’t move there yet as she needs some money, having retired early – or rather walked before she was pushed off the back of the fact she faked a load of incriminating evidence against Jacob.

But she has a financial plan – she knows Charity’s (Emma Atkins) secret and knows Charity will want to keep it secret.
She tells the pub landlady that she has definitive proof that Leyla is her and Ross’ child, and that she wants £10,000. Charity is horrified, but even more so when she spots Todd kissing Vanessa.
Things are spiralling out of control, and she needs to get Vanessa out of Todd’s evil clutches while protecting her deadly secret – will Charity be able to find the money and save everyone from Caitlin Todd?
Emmerdale’s manipulative Dr Todd makes a move on clueless Vanessa Woodfield during a night out in The Woolpack next week.
As Vanessa, Todd and Manpreet Sharma come together for some downtime in the pub, barmaid Mary Goskirk suggests a doubles darts match to help the group bond.
When Vanessa and Todd find themselves on the same team, Todd sticks the moves on her teammate as the match commences…
“Bossy, blonde and a little bit twisted – Dr Todd is exactly Vanessa’s type!” says our Emmerdale insider. “Todd sidles up behind Vanessa and coyly helps her to aim her dart as an excuse to get closer to her.
“However, innocent Vanessa is totally oblivious to these smooth moves and doesn’t even realise that Todd is flirting with her!”
Later, Todd continues her ruthless mission to ruin Jacob’s life by seizing the opportunity to spread dangerous lies about him around the village and manipulate other people’s opinions of him.
“Now that Todd has firmly inserted herself into village life, her presence is making new dad Jacob increasingly uncomfortable,” continues our spy. “In an attempt to ruin Jacob’s private life after he reported her to HR, Todd starts to sow seeds of deception throughout the village to convince those around him that he’s a bad person.
“It’s a huge risk given that most of the village have known Jacob since he was a child, but Todd is a fearless manipulator.”
When the darts divas organise another match at the end of the week, there’s a further opportunity for Todd to make her feelings towards Vanessa known…
“It’s unclear at this stage whether Todd actually fancies Vanessa, or whether this is all just part of her wider scheming,” warns our source. “Either way, we feel sorry for Vanessa – she’s a total catch and deserves some romance. A successful doctor would be a great match for her if only Todd wasn’t totally evil. Things could get a lot more dangerous for our village vet from here on out…”
Will Todd continue to pursue the vibrant vet? And will Vanessa notice her advances next time, sparking a new relationship?
