OMG SHOCKING!!! Robert makes confession that could end him but he gets a surprise

Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) crisis of conscience continues as he’s forced to face Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) every day.

His guilt was already unmanageable while Moira was in prison – largely because he was the sole reason she was there. He managed to get her freed without dropping himself in it by leaning on Bear to reveal any new information, but this just meant Bear (Joshua Richards) became collateral damage instead and now faces more jail time as a suspected accomplice of Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).

But hey, Robert can’t win them all and now he’s just desperate to get the rest of this guilt off his shoulders, which has intensified since Moira came home.

It’s not for want of trying. Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is of course still playing silly beggers because it’s the only game he knows how to win, having warned Robert that a confession would end him in more ways than one.

But Robert is now having to watch Moira struggle to adapt to normal life and life without her beloved farm – things aren’t great between her and her husband Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) either, who are struggling to get back on track now that she’s home.

Just to compound Robert’s wretchedness, Moira insists on helping him on the farm rather than the Dingles’.

The guilt becomes uncontainable for Robert and Moira senses the change in him. All it takes is a few questions and he breaks. Without a second thought, he tells her that he planted the IDs, blackmailed into doing it by Joe with his incriminating footage of Victoria (Isobel Hodgins) killing John. Can open, worms everywhere.

Moira takes the news exactly how one might expect and demands Robert go to the police, or she will. Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) finds out Robert confessed and races to block Moira from reporting him. Moira agrees, but only because Cain’s op is around the corner and he doesn’t need more stress.

Aaron reminds Moira that Robert is not the only guilty party, so Moira grabs a shotgun and marches to face the man who is the other half of this mess.

Graham (Andrew Scarborough) blocks her path, but she’s an armed woman on a mission, and the house butler won’t stop her.

Will the red mist see Moira end up back in prison on very different charges? Will Robert now be responsible for a death on top of everything else?

Emmerdale Soap Scoop! Moira’s huge plea decision

Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley has delved into the mindset behind Robert Sugden’s major decision, as the guilt of being responsible for Moira Dingle’s imprisonment becomes too much and he decides to hand himself in.

Speaking about next week’s scenes, Hawley described it as an “absolute last chance, race against the clock”.

“Robert’s going to have to turn himself in to protect Moira and confess to all the things he’s done, like planting the evidence”, the actor explained.

“He has to prevent Moira getting a really long sentence, taking her away from her family and kids. Robert’s decided he can’t see them suffer. Aaron’s suggested they have to get information from Bear that no one else could. So Robert goes to prison to push for answers in the hope something will come up.”

It’s not until young Kyle Winchester goes missing and Robert finds him that he becomes determined to do the right thing, however.

Kyle goes missing and there’s a village-wide search for him”, Hawley stated. “Robert finds him and makes a decision off the back of Kyle saying how Moira going to prison has impacted his life.

“And I think Robert really feels that. He feels the weight of the consequences of what he’s done. He feels the only way to make things right is by putting himself back in the situation where he’d get charged with tampering with evidence, and then go to prison.”

The number plate that Bear buried could be a key piece of evidence in prooving Moira’s innocence, but as Hawley said, it’s a race against time. Can Robert and Aaron get to the storage facility and find it before it’s too late?
