Coronation Street fans think it has been ‘confirmed’ who doesn’t die in the upcoming murder week as five villains face being killed off in the long-running show.
As those who follow the Salford-based ITV soap know, it was confirmed back in February in a flashforward episode that a shock death will occur on the cobbles on Thursday, April 23, with Betsy Swain the one to make the horror discovery.
In the previously-aired scenes, a hocked and anxious Betsy was seen being interviewed by detectives about finding the dead body of someone she knows, with her explaining she had been at the wedding of her mum, Lisa Swain, and Carla Connor and was heading into town to continue the celebrations when she stumbled across the murder victim.
As the episode returned to the present day, Corrie viewers saw Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster revealed as the potential victims, each showing behaviours that could lead to them being bumped off.
Later, as the same episode came to a close, it again flashed forward to April 23rd and the five characters were seen on the cobbles as Lisa and Carla’s wedding fireworks lit up the night sky. As the lights flickered, a battered and bruised Carl, frantic Jodie, a menacing Maggie, a bloody-nosed Megan and a furtive Theo were seen staring into the darkness.
Since the episode with the look into the future aired, the behaviour of the various villains has only furthered the possibility that they will be the one to be killed, with Corrie spoilers for next week confirming that the big reveal won’t take place until next Friday (May 1).
But as mentioned, among those potentially being killed-off is Maggie, played by Pauline McLynn. The Father Ted icon made her debut in the role back in October, with her revealed to be the mother-in-law of Weatherfield returnee Eva Price, who was confirmed as the new owner of the Rovers Return alongside her partner, and Maggie’s son, Ben.

In a new social media post, the three actors, Pauline, Catherine Tyldesley and Aaron McCusker, all appear in the Rovers and are seen wishing Salford a happy 100th birthday. Tuesday (April 21) marks 100 years since it was granted city status, with King George V visiting Salford to make things official.
In the clip, the trio say: “From the city’s most famous street, we just wanted to say, Happy Hundreth Birthday Salford!” before each finishing with a cheer. Corrie captioned the post on social media: “There’s only one place to celebrate Salford’s 100th Birthday… in the pub on its most famous Street!? #SalfordCentenary #Salford100.”
And while it’s not clear when the video was filmed, Corrie fans were quick to speculate. @fansvfavourites replied: “Maggie lives!” @PaulineMcLynnUK asked: “Does this confirm Maggie doesn’t die…? #Corrie.” @gregayala7 suggested: “Maggie still alive and she survives next week that means Megan is definitely the one who is dead.” However, @GoldenGoonerlg pointed out: “Nope, When u filmed Maggies death could have filmed that at the same time.”
