Emmerdale set up the next special episode involving Cain and Moira Dingle, with the pair being a part of a tense scene. As intimacy issues in their marriage became apparent, will the beloved couple be able to forge through?

It’s been a rough few months for the duo, with Cain’s cancer diagnosis coming amid Moira’s wrongful incarceration. Moira was eventually released after being cleared, but has found it difficult to acclimate back to normal life.

This is because she sold her stake in Butler’s Farm to the Tates, with the family moving in with Lydia and Sam following her release from prison. This has created a fraught atmosphere, including with her husband.

Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap began as Cain headed to the garage to speak with Aaron, though Moira questioned him over several things when he got there. She implored him to turn down work with a view to his health, but Cain was unmoved.

After being bluntly rebuffed by her husband, Moira headed to Home Farm to confront Joe Tate, who led the scheme that resulted in Moira being imprisoned. Cain, meanwhile, headed to the Woolpack.

He had a quiet drink with Aaron, and admitted that he was struggling to balance his marriage with their newfound surroundings in Lydia and Sam’s house. Aaron, however, maintained that now was the time for Cain to lean on his wife for support.

Moira, meanwhile, held Joe at gunpoint over his part in her incarceration. Graham Foster walked in and attempted to prevent the situation from escalating even further, but Moira calmly delivered a speech in which she pointed out Joe’s malevolent streak.

Dawn Fletcher subsequently walked in and told Moira to drop the gun, with the figure startling the room as she said she was pregnant. Moira eventually left, but indicated that it wasn’t over between her and Joe.

Moira returned home to Cain, and the couple pledged to talk through some of their issues over a cuppa. They both apologised for various things, but the conversation soon soured as Moira quipped that they were “finally” intimate together.

Cain took offence to Moira’s wording, and said that nothing was a laughing matter in their current situation. As Moira begged him to stay and “fix” things, Cain stormed out of the house and teed up tomorrow’s special episode.
