SHOCKING BETRAYAL!!! Mack set to face devastating betrayal in Emmerdale – and we don’t mean from Charity

Emmerdale spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (April 22) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) is set to have his heart broken when he discovers that Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) cheated on him with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) last year.
Given this is Emmerdale we’re talking about, it’s only a matter of time before the big secret outs.
The farmhand, as viewers know, wants nothing more than to become a dad and thus he struggled with Charity’s decision to become a surrogate for granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).
He ultimately put his feelings aside, realising that Charity was simply trying to grant her granddaughter’s wish, and thus he got on board with it.
Little does he know, however, that the baby Charity gave birth to earlier this week was not Sarah and Jacob Sugden’s (Joe-Warren Plant) but rather it’s her own biological child – and her ex Ross is the dad.
As viewers will recall, the embryo transfer didn’t take and shortly afterwards she had a one night stand with Ross – and subsequently fell pregnant.
Ross worked out the truth but Mack remains in the dark, though it’s safe to say his heart will shatter into millions of pieces when the truth does explode. And not just because one true love Charity cheated on him and gave birth to another man’s baby but also because that other man is none other than Ross, his new best mate.
When Ross staged a comeback to the eponymous village and crossed paths with Mack, it’s safe to say they didn’t get along.

However, overtime they’ve formed quite the bromance, which was never more apparent than it was on Wednesday (April 22), with Mack thanking Ross for being there for Charity during the birth when he was triggered by the confined space of the lift, which brought back memories of when John Sugden kept him trapped in the bunker.
When Charity pulled through after surgery, Mack hugged Ross, who is starting to feel guilty over what he and Charity did.
The question is: how will Mack react to the fact that not only Charity betrayed him but also Ross did too? He’s set to lose everything in one fell swoop and it couldn’t come at a worse time, with the fan-favourite character revealing earlier this week that it was recently son Reuben’s birthday.
Reuben is living elsewhere with mum Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland), who brutally kept Mack away from their child, threatening to dob Charity into the police for killing her murderous father – to save them all, by the way – if he ever makes contact.
In a bid to protect Charity, Mack has kept his distance but it’s clear that its been weighing on him – and it’ll no doubt do so again when he uncovers the shocking truth of Charity’s baby.
And speaking of shocking truths, Charity has a dilemma of her own to deal with after Dr Todd (Caroline Harker) revealed that she knows Jacob isn’t the father of the newborn – and she will no doubt use it to destroy Jacob, who recently complained about her bullying to HR.
New ITV spoilers reveal that Charity’s boyfriend Mackenzie Boyd will cheat on her with a fellow villager shortly after their baby heartbreak.
Last week, viewers were left feeling emotional as Charity (Emma Atkins) suffered an ectopic pregnancy and she and Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) were forced to make the decision to terminate the pregnancy.

Mackenzie and Charity are left at a stalemate when she calls him out for being insensitive about trying for another baby.
Charity’s adamant that trying for another baby is off the table but Mackenzie refuses to give up on the idea.
Unable to settle their differences, Mackenzie is hurt when wretched Charity insists that if he wants to have a baby, it won’t be with her; she directs him to go and try elsewhere.
Later, after opening up to Moira, Charity is intent on fixing things with Mack but is totally unaware that he’s in bed with a mysterious woman.
When a sheepish Mackenzie returns home later that evening, he’s surprised when Charity doesn’t rule out trying for another baby in the future.
The two are reunited but a dark cloud looms over Mackenzie as guilt sets in, but will he decide to come clean to Charity? Or could the mystery woman spill his secret instead?

When Charity (Emma Atkins) told Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) that she was pregnant in Emmerdale recently, she was surprised at how enthusiastic and positive he was about the idea. In fact it wasn’t long before he was excitedly telling Moira (Natalie J. Robb) that he was going to be a dad, and he couldn’t wait to start fussing over Charity and trying to get her to take things easy.
So it comes as a devastating blow in upcoming episodes when the couple discover that the pregnancy isn’t viable and the baby has no chance of survival. They get the terrible news after Charity collapses in pain at home and they rush to the hospital. A scan reveals an ectopic pregnancy – where the foetus develops outside the womb.
Mackenzie takes the news especially hard, and in heartbreaking scenes asks if he can hear the baby’s heartbeat. Lawrence Robb told us that it’s something Mack feels he needs to do.
‘It’s Mackenzie that requests this. I don’t think that Charity was very keen on this happening, but she shows strength by agreeing to let that happen because she sees that it’s something that Mackenzie needs,’ he said.
Lawrence says that filming these scenes was incredibly difficult. ‘Upon reading this beforehand I was extremely wary and trepidatious about it because it’s so so sad,’ he reveals. ‘It was not easy to film at all, so one can only imagine what it will be like to view.’
In the aftermath of their sad loss, the couple find their relationship tested as each of them deals with their feelings differently. While Mack feels he has to be strong for Charity it’s clear he’s not coping well himself. Charity tries to put on a brave face herself and insists that life carries on, but those around her are concerned that she’s emotionally shutting down rather than face her pain.
‘They both deal with it very differently, and in many cases not in the way you would expect,’ Lawrence says. ‘He wants to talk about it and she doesn’t. So there may be resentment there, but I think it’s more confusion and hurt that she doesn’t seem to want to talk about it.’
