Emmerdale‘s Cain and Moira Dingle form a united front ahead of Cain’s operation next week, but is their relationship about to change forever? As Cain’s fears surrounding his cancer surgery grow, Moira has a secret of her own that she’s determined to keep schtum about. But what will the future bring for their troubled marriage?

“Cain’s scared that their love story will never be the same,” explains our Emmerdale insider. “The operation is life-changing, but Cain desperately needs the treatment. They’re both scared that things will change, though Moira’s trying to be optimistic.”

Worried about the possible side effects of his surgery, Cain has already come close to cancelling the procedure altogether.

With Moira knowing her husband as well as she does, she understands how vital it is that he goes ahead with it – never mind how easy it would be for Cain to go back on his word.

As she tries to keep Cain’s stress levels stable ahead of the big operation, Moira’s suffering in silence with her own big secret. By this point, she’s told Cain about Joe Tate orchestrating her imprisonment by planting the ID cards, but completely left out the part about Robert Sugden’s involvement and what drove him to such lengths.

“Moira knows Cain will go ballistic at Robert,” continues our spy. “Joe’s scheming is exactly what he’d expect from a Tate, but Robert is marrying Aaron – Cain’s nephew – and supposed to be loyal to the Dingle family. Cain will be livid with his betrayal.”

The last thing Cain needs is another feud before his surgery and explaining the situation would bring up the fate of John Sugden again, reopening old wounds for the bereaved dad after losing his son Nate. So Moira battles to stay tight-lipped about everything she knows to protect everyone involved.

The night before the operation, Cain admits his concerns to Moira that she’ll be less attracted to him afterwards and it’ll damage their passionate relationship. But Moira promises she’ll be there no matter what and they’ll face whatever comes next as a team.

How long can Moira keep Robert’s betrayal a secret from Cain? And how will Cain and Moira’s relationship survive the next phase of Cain’s treatment if it impacts his identity?
