Emmerdale’s Moira and Cain’s sex disaster leaves them heartbroken

Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) promised Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) that even if they could never have sex again they would still be strong as ever. Now, let’s put that to the test.
In a romantic moment on a hospital gurney before Moira’s scan, the couple had a moment where Cain confessed his fears for their sexual future. Moira allayed them, and as she has done before, reassured him their love can conquer anything.
But that was before Cain denies her sex for the first time, and it might change everything.
Moira Dingle is out of jail and coming home to a very different life.
She’s returning from a prison stint for a crime she didn’t commit to having lost her home and beloved farm. All she just wants is some closeness from her husband, but he’s not the same either.
Cain is battling prostate cancer and has faced several setbacks, including a car accident delaying his life saving operation. He’s not the Cain Moira left behind.
Moira’s back in the village now and facing one heck of an adjustment living at the Dingles’ and with no proper role to keep her busy. Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) senses her unease and displacement, so offers her the house to have some alone time with Cain.
Moira jumps at the chance, having last had intimate time with Cain while Liam stood watch at the door.
But all it takes is some thoughtless mockery from Sam Dingle (James Hooton) to ruin Moira’s hopes of sexy times.

Sam gives a gentle ribbing that Cain’s in for a night of romance with Moira and humourless Cain instantly sours.
He feels like he’s been set up given that he is terrified of not being able to perform properly, and he’s fuming that Moira has discussed their sex life.
In Cain’s new dramatic manner, he storms out. Moira is gutted – she’s fresh out of jail and she’s already been abandoned by Cain.

The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated April 13. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
It was a race against time in Emmerdale today, as Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) loved ones attempted to save her from years behind bars.
The beloved character has spent the majority of 2026 in prison after being arrested for double murder, and apparent involvement in Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) operation.
Moira is totally innocent, and remains unaware that one of the main reasons she’s behind bars is because Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) hid some passports at Butler’s Farm and framed her.
Robert spent a while ignoring his guilt, because he knew he only planted those ID cards to save Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins). After Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) obtained video footage of Vic covering up John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) murder, he told Robert to frame Moira, or he’d tell the police about Vic.

Due to the fact no-one has been able to find any evidence to prove Moira’s innocence, she told Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) a couple of days ago that she was going to plead guilty at her upcoming hearing. When Robert discovered this he felt awful, knowing he was going to play a part in sending a mother to prison for crimes she didn’t commit.
After Robert confessed to planting the passports to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), it looked as though he was going to hand himself into the police, but Aaron was adamant they’d find a different option.
A phone call from Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) was the catalyst to Moira’s family finding another solution. Once Bear recalled the details of a number plate he hid for Ray Walters (Joe Absolom), Robert and Aaron attempted to find out where it came from.
The unlikely hero in this quest turned out to be Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah), who successfully managed to trace Ray’s old car back to a storage unit in Hotten.

Robert and Aaron raced to the location but when they arrived, they suddenly became overwhelmed at the site of hundreds of units – how would they identify the right one, before Moira pleads guilty in a matter of hours?
Back at home, a glum Robert and Aaron updated the family. As soon as they mentioned the unit, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) recalled seeing the door key on Celia’s farm a few days ago.
At the unit, Aaron, Robert, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) watched DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) and her team begin searching through piles and piles of new evidence. The group knew that if Moira’s name wasn’t in any of the documents, it would prove her innocence.
But it sadly wasn’t as simple as that.
Is Moira going to prison?
-
Yes, they’ve ran out of time
-
No, something else will happen so she can be freed
Walsh explained that all of the paperwork needs to get logged which means at the moment, it doesn’t help Moira. They need to process all of the evidence because presenting it in court right now won’t help her.
Back at the prison, Moira was heading to her hearing. She was stopped by Cain, who shouted through the gates with the news about the evidence.
But with DS Walsh and her team unable to file through all of the documents before Moira’s hearing, has her fate basically been confirmed?
