Emmerdale’s Jacob branded “obsessed” as Dr Todd ramps up her scheming

Emmerdale Soap Scoop! Charity’s dramatic labour
Emmerdale‘s Dr Caitlin Todd continues with her plan to discredit medical student Jacob Sugden, suggesting that he could be “taken” with her in tonight’s episode.
After relocating to the village, Dr Todd received a bottle of champagne with a card saying it was from Jacob. Bumping into him while on a walk with Manpreet Sharma and Vanessa Woodfield, Dr Todd made a point to humiliate her confused student, who swore he had nothing to do with the present.

“You don’t need to lie,” Dr Todd said, adding that the gift was “inappropriate”.
“It’s not the first time I’ve had to remind him of boundaries,” she then told Manpreet and Vanessa, suggesting that Jacob might have confused their professional relationship for a romantic connection.
Later on, Jacob asked his grandad if he knew who could have sent Dr Todd the bottle of champagne, with Pollard admitting he’d delivered it as a welcome gift.
Jacob was visibly upset that his grandad would go behind his back and stormed out. At the Woolpack, Pollard offered to clarify the confusion with Todd, but Jacob insisted he shouldn’t interfere further.

Overwhelmed, Jacob asked Rich to swap shifts with him the following day so he could take a break from “the dragon”. Little did he know that being on the blood run meant he had to work precisely with Dr Todd.
At the pub, it was Todd who informed Jacob they would work together, then telling Manpreet that he’d swapped shifts to be with her.
Todd sought Manpreet’s advice to fend off Jacob, saying that he was “not obsessed… but taken” with her.

Manpreet very sensibly advised Todd to assign Jacob to another mentor if she felt uneasy, but the manipulative doctor replied that she didn’t want to “abandon” her student.
What else does she have in mind to make Jacob’s life difficult? In upcoming episodes, Jacob wakes up to Todd’s scheme and reports her for bullying, but how will she react?
Jacob heads to see Dr Todd and asks if he can have a word. Before long, Jacob decides to raise a formal complaint regarding her bullying.
Meanwhile, Moira’s plan for the day backfires.
Elsewhere, Paddy worries for Bear.
Also today, Belle is now excited about her date with Kammy.
Emmerdale’s Jacob Sugden finally stands up to his manipulative boss Dr Todd next week, as he takes decisive action and reports her to HR. Despite warnings from his colleague Rich, Jacob raises a formal complaint – but Dr Todd is watching him closely. How else is she planning to make his life a misery?
“Jacob is really suffering,” explains Joe-Warren Plant, who plays the junior doctor. “He’s a lot of things, but he’s not a quitter. He’s stuck in a grey area, chasing a career. But there’s something off about Dr Todd!”
Jacob feels the weight of the world on his shoulders, and there’s no escaping his menacing mentor – especially when she moves to Main Street.
Not only is Jacob dealing with her right on his doorstep, he’s also been called as a witness in Bear Wolf’s trial. The pressure is never-ending for poor Jacob…
“Todd moving in next door is his worst nightmare,” warns Joe-Warren. “There’s this underlying tension we see gradually build as they start being in each other’s personal space. It all becomes too much for Jacob.”
As the stress gets to Jacob, Ross Barton notices his troubled appearance and asks what’s wrong. But when Ross learns his intimidating boss is a woman, he advises Jacob to simply talk it out with her. If only it was that simple…
Before long, Jacob’s relationship with Dr Todd becomes even more strained and he takes the plunge, deciding to raise a formal complaint with the hospital.
Unable to tell his wife Sarah about the meeting with HR, he confides in fellow doctor Rich, who warns him that it’s career suicide to go up against Caitlin Todd…
“It’s a stressful time for Jacob,” notes Joe-Warren. “He’s trying to find his backbone. He wants to prove himself but also keep pushing forward. He assumes that the pressure he faces from Todd is what he signed up for.”
In the HR meeting, Jacob fights his anxiety as he sets out exactly how Dr Todd made him feel. However, Jacob has no idea she’s watching him from afar, glaring as he steps into the meeting. When she tries to corner him afterwards, Jacob finally has the strength to stand up to her.
But will Jacob’s efforts to tackle his bully pay off? Or will Dr Todd manipulate her colleagues in HR and continue to make Jacob’s work life a living nightmare?
