Two posts appeared to be doing the rounds online, with one of them suggesting that his character was set to be killed off as a result of a stroke in a storyline to air later this year.

Now, James has spoken out online to deny the hoax claims as well as offer an update on his contract.

Taking to Facebook, James said: “Hi Everyone. Just a quick message to say I have NOT left Emmerdale!

“I’m contracted until March 2027 and have no intention of leaving-unless the show gets rid of me.”
