Coronation Street Soap Scoop! Todd’s escape plan

Coronation Street‘s Ronnie Bailey has ordered Carl Webster to leave Weatherfield after Debbie discovered her son’s scheme to con Summer Spellman.

In tonight’s episode, Debbie summoned Carl – one of the five potential victims of the soap’s big murder mystery week – to confront him about the rumours that he’d been conning Summer out of her inheritance in exchange for information about Billy Mayhew’s murderer.

“Bernie got it wrong,” Carl tried but Debbie insisted she’d speak with Summer to check their stories. As a guilty Carl was caught red-handed, Debbie hissed: “This is an all-time low. Even for you.”

Carl admitted to it, adding that he knew who killed Billy.

“Billy was murdered. And I hear someone confess to it,” he told his mum, who couldn’t believe her own son left her behind bars, letting everyone believe she was to blame for the vicar’s death.

“You left me to rot in prison? Made everybody believe that I was responsible?” she said.

Waking up to Carl’s ways, Debbie told him he should be ashamed of himself. “You play games with people’s lives. You make profit off other people’s misery,” she said.

“You should be ashamed of yourself. I’m ashamed of you. Get out!”

After she kicked him out, Ryan Connor realised that Debbie, who had been diagnosed with dementia, was having another of her episodes as she stared into the void blankly.

He called her husband Ronnie, who realised that Carl’s words must’ve triggered the episode.

“I should have just got rid of him when I had a chance,” Ronnie said as a plan formed in his mind.

Speaking with Summer at the store, Carl reiterated his offer to help put Billy’s killer, Todd Silverton, behind bars. “Ten grand to put your dad’s murderer away? Sounds pretty reasonable to me,” he said.

“Sounds like extortion to me,” Summer replied, not taking the bait.

Ronnie found Carl at the Rovers and demanded he pack his bags and leave the cobbles.

“You’re not to step foot in Weatherfield ever again,” Ronnie said, adding that Carl was speeding up his mum’s health decline.

“Do the right thing for once and leave. Otherwise, I’ll have to make you.”

Based on Ronnie’s words, could Carl be the one meeting his maker during murder mystery week? Fans know that Betsy Swain is set to discover a body on Lisa and Carla Connor’s wedding day, with Coronation Street narrowing down to five potential victims: Carl, Theo Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Megan Walsh.

Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) is doing a very good job at moving to the top of my killer list ahead of Coronation Street’s murder storyline.

In a matter of days, one Weatherfield resident will be found dead following a brutal showdown. At the moment, all we know is that the body will belong to either Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) or Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).

Carl has caused so much trouble since he arrived in Weatherfield, plenty of people would like to see the back of him. After his affair with Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) was exposed, focused turned to Carl’s relationship with Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), who spent a very long time letting Carl believe they were siblings, not mother and son.

Letting his vulnerable mum take the fall for a crime he committed was bad enough, but Carl is incredibly good at saying hey you think that’s bad? Watch this.

Since Debbie’s release from prison, Carl has spun a sob story about how he’d like to build bridges with his mum and reconnect with her. Debbie, who has vascular dementia, has embraced this version of Carl – totally unaware it isn’t a genuine version of him at all.

Carl’s meddling has been spotted by Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), Ronnie and Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). A few days ago, Ronnie and Kevin decided to work together to try and get rid of Carl, concluding it would be better if he disappeared for a very long time.

Ronnie changed his mind though when he witnessed a sweet moment between Debbie and Carl, which highlighted just how much Debbie loves having her son in her life.

Ronnie regretted his decision in tonight’s episode, as he learnt that Carl had been causing Debbie a high level of stress.

Debbie discovered that Carl has told Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) that he knows what really happened to Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank). During her confrontation with Carl, Debbie learnt that he’s asked Summer for £10k of Billy’s life insurance money in exchange for proof that someone in Weatherfield murdered him.

Debbie was utterly disgusted at Carl’s behaviour and screamed at him to leave the flat. Moments later, Ryan realised that Debbie was having another one of her episodes.

He updated Ronnie, who quietly told Carl in the pub to leave Weatherfield because he’s speeding up Debbie’s decline. Ronnie warned Carl and said that if he doesn’t go, he’ll make him.

The smug look on Carl’s face during this conversation suggested he has absolutely no intention of doing as Ronnie asked.

He was also seen reminding Summer of his offer in the episode, stating that he can get a confession out of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) quicker than anyone from the police.

With Carl refusing to budge, could this push Ronnie to murder him in future episodes?

Is this what Ronnie means when he says he’ll ‘get rid’ of Carl?
