Coronation Street star Olivia Frances Brown has shared more details of Jodie Ramsey’s bold new plan to destroy Shona and David Platt’s marriage.

Jodie tries to set David up in a cheating scandal this week, as she climbs into his marital bed and attempts to fool him into thinking that she’s Shona!

As David is drunk after attending Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain’s wedding reception, he’s not in the best of states. Could Jodie manage to trap him in a compromising situation?

Speaking about Jodie’s feelings for her brother-in-law, Olivia explained: “She is quite transfixed on David. I think she believes she has fallen in love with him – and she definitely wants him to feel the same way. She is convincing herself that this is the case.

“Whether it is actually David that is at the heart of what she wants, I don’t know. Or is it more what David represents? A home, safety, a good relationship, love – all these things she’s never really had the chance to have in life.

“She’s never really had anyone care for her the way David cares for her. Unlike Shona, she’s never really felt that. And to come in and see her sister have all the things she’s missed out on in life, it’s sent her spiralling a bit…”

Jodie’s decision to ramp up her scheming comes after she realises that Shona has been lying to her about the past.

Shona previously claimed that she’d never received the emotional letter that Jodie sent to her after leaving their family home years ago. However, in Wednesday’s episode, it emerges that Shona did get the note but chose to ignore it.

“Jodie’s relationship with Shona is so complex,” Olivia continued. “She absolutely loves her. She adores her sister. She idolises her.

“It’s just that resentment and that bitterness. The thing that pushes Jodie over the edge is that Shona actually never tried to come back for her and help her, the way she helped herself.”

Jodie is one of five characters who are in the running to be killed off this week, alongside Carl Webster, Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh and Theo Silverton.

One possibility is that a member of the Platt family could take revenge against Jodie after her sneaky ways, but there’s also a chance that shady figures from her mysterious past could strike.

“I would have been surprised if Jodie wasn’t one of the potential victims, the way she’s been carrying on,” Olivia laughed. “Trouble follows her around like a bad smell. She is always caught up in the chaos. Whatever’s going on, if there is any chaos in the street, she’ll probably be at the heart of it.

“It’s the way that she is. It’s how she has learnt to deal with things. It’s the way she goes through life. She doesn’t really know how to have healthy relationships with people. It’s quite sad, really!

“It’s been great to be part of such a big week on the show – to be new on the show and to be thrown right into the centre of all the drama. It’s been a really lovely experience. It’s just been like a rollercoaster from the beginning. I really don’t want it to end – but it might have ended!”
