Straight From the Source

When I spoke to James Reynolds (Abe) for my book, Super Soap Scenes: A Time Capsule of Daytime Drama’s Greatest Moments, he had this to say about Abe’s feelings for Lexie (now played by Nikki Crawford) versus his relationship with Paulina (Jackée Harry). Almost as if Reynolds knew there was a time when he might be choosing between the two of them…

Days of Our Lives: Who Is Lexie Carver, Played By Renée Jones?

Say It With Me

Reynolds told me, “Abe and Lexie were soulmates. They had that connection that was magnetic and instant, and there was a lot of fire on both sides. They were a couple that shared a lot of passion in the way they lived their lives. They were ambitious; a young, upwardly mobile couple. That was something that defined them. There was such a connection between Abe and Lexie. Paulina and Abe is a more mature relationship. From Abe’s point of view, whereas he might have been more passionate about some issues with Lexie, he is more understanding with Paulina. He’s more willing to back off and let the relationship simmer, as opposed to the younger relationship, where it’s just: You’re wrong, I’m right, I’m going to win this. As you get older, there’s much less of that. You ask yourself, what’s valuable here? Winning the argument or having a pleasant, peaceful existence. We all go through that. Abe, in this relationship, is more attuned to the totality of the relationship, not who is right or who is wrong.”

Will Abe make the right call now?

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Abe’s Double Wife Crisis, Must Choose Paulina or Lexie

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) will find himself facing a dilemma he never expected to face.

Thanks to the resurrection drama that’s happening, Abe will have to make a difficult choice.

When Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) died of a brain tumor back in 2012, Abe grieved the loss for many years.

It took a long time for Abe to truly move on, but he ultimately found love with Paulina Price (Jackée Harry).

Abe married Paulina, but he never imagined his previous wife would rise from the grave and come waltzing back into his life.

However, that’s the situation Abe will soon be facing, so sorting out this Lexie mess won’t be easy.

Days spoilers say Abe will inevitably have an emotional reunion with Lexie and feel a familiar spark.

Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) may root for Lexie and Abe to reconnect romantically so they can all be a family again.

Since Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) is moving back to Salem with Eli Price (Lamon Archey) and the twins, her timing couldn’t be better.

Lani will have a chance to support Paulina and urge Abe to stand by the wife he has now.

You can bet Lani will want Paulina and Abe to live happily ever after, but Paulina may worry that’s not possible anymore.

Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) may give Paulina a pep talk along with Lani, but Paulina may fear that Abe’s love for Lexie is too strong to ignore.

Nikki Crawford recently gave an interview to TV Insider and made it clear that Lexie’s going to “shake things up,” particularly when it comes to Abe’s marriage to Paulina.

“But I think what makes her relatable is that she’s willing to fight for what she loves,” Crawford said about her DOOL stint.

“Most people, if given a second chance, would do the same thing. So, she may come in with love, but she’s not coming in quietly.”

In other words, Days spoilers say Lexie is going to fight hard for Abe and their new chapter.

Abe may legally be married to Paulina now, but that doesn’t mean Lexie will just give up on their love story.

At some point, Paulina may step aside so that Abe can explore his true feelings – much like Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) did for Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) when Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte) came back in the picture.

Although Abe may surrender to what he feels for Lexie with some sizzling moments, Paulina may be his endgame romance.

Lexie’s Days return isn’t permanent, so Paulina should be the wife who’s left standing down the road.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Abe has some chaos ahead of him in the meantime, so stay tuned for his reaction to the stunning Lexie survival news.

Woman lying down, eyes closed, under green light glow. Wearing a hospital gown, relaxed expression. Background is blurred.

In the world of daytime soaps, death is usually about as permanent as a celebrity marriage. We’ve seen characters return from the “afterlife” via secret islands, plastic surgery swaps, and memory-wiping microchips. But even for a show that once featured a demonic possession, the latest bombshell has fans dropping their remote controls: Lexie Carver is back on Days of Our Lives.

After 14 years of gathering dust in the great beyond, Salem’s favorite DiMera princess has been officially resurrected. If you thought the Carver/Price family dynamic was already messy, grab your popcorn because things are about to get radioactive.

The Return of the DiMera Empress

Let’s be real: when Renée Jones retired in 2012 and Lexie died of a brain tumor in Abe’s arms, we all actually believed it. Silly us. This is Days, where Dr. Rolf’s “mad scientist” resume is the only thing more consistent than the lack of security at University Hospital.

The March 6 episode finally gave us the payoff to weeks of “What’s in the pod?” speculation. As it turns out, the mystery occupant wasn’t a clone or a Stefano reboot, it was Lexie. While we’re losing the legendary Renée Jones to retirement, Nikki Crawford has stepped into the role with a grace that says, “I’ve been in a sci-fi coma for a decade, and I still look better than you.”

Why This Shakeup Actually Works

Some might roll their eyes at another Dr. Rolf miracle, but Lexie’s return is a masterstroke for the current narrative. For years, Abe Carver has been the moral compass of Salem. His pairing with Paulina Price (played by the incomparable Jackée Harry) brought a fresh, brassy energy to the show.

By dropping Lexie back into the mix, the writers have created the ultimate soap opera trope: the “Dead Wife vs. The New Wife” showdown. Crawford’s Lexie isn’t just a ghost; she’s a DiMera. That means she brings a certain level of calculated fire that Paulina might not be prepared to handle. Watching these two powerhouses fight for Abe’s heart is the kind of high-stakes drama that keeps Peacock subscriptions active.

A New Era for the Carvers

Beyond the romance, Lexie’s return provides much-needed tissue for Theo Carver. Seeing a grown-up Theo interact with a mother who hasn’t aged a day since 2012 is going to be poignant, weird and exactly the kind of emotional manipulation we tune in for.

Whether Lexie remains the saintly doctor we remember or leans into her darker DiMera roots remains to be seen. Given the state of Salem lately, we’re rooting for a little bit of both.

Between Crawford’s commanding screen presence and the inevitable fallout for Abe and Paulina, the “Lexie is back” era is shaping up to be the most addictive storyline of the year.
