EastEnders has aired an unexpected twist involving Sam Mitchell, as she gets important results about her breast cancer treatment. After her diagnosis at the end of last year, Sam underwent a lumpectomy then has been undergoing radiotherapy – having decided to stay in Walford until she completes her treatment.
Sam prepared for her appointment with the cancer specialist in today’s episode, and Ricky skipped school so he could accompany her mum to the hospital.
Thankfully, Sam got very good news at her appointment, with the specialist explaining that the cancer is gone, and she would only need an annual mammogram for the next five years.
Sam’s loved ones threw her a surprise congratulations party, but she was overwhelmed by the fuss and headed to Harry’s Barn – where she found Zack drowning his sorrows.
The morning after Zack and Vicki shared another passionate moment at her hen do, Vicki said that she was going to tell Ross the truth about their secret tryst. But she was overcome when Ross told her that Joel would stay with his mum when he gets out of prison.

With Ross having sorted out her worries, Vicki decided that her future was with her fiancé, so she later made clear to Zack that she was never going to spill the beans about their affair.
Zack told Sam about his romantic woes, but forgot his current situation when Sam revealed that her cancer treatment is done. She opened up to her former flame about her complex feelings surrounding her illness, and Zack gave her the encouragement she needed.
The pair grew closer over a drink and eventually retreated to the office to reignite their chemistry, where they kissed and slept together.
After their passionate encounter, Sam went home and had a heart-to-heart with Denise, while Zack got the clarity he needed and told Vicki that they were officially done so she needn’t worry about him exposing their affair.
But Vicki and Zack then realised that their affair had already been exposed, as Vicki received an anonymous text which read, “I won’t tell if you pay me” – with a photo of them kissing the previous night.
