SHOCK RETURN!!! ITV Coronation Street fans gasp as Tina McIntyre ‘returns’ after 12 years
Coronation Street viewers have been left astonished after believing they’d spotted Tina McIntyre, who has been missing for more than a decade.
Tina (Michelle Keegan) first appeared on the ITV soap back in 2008. As the spirited barmaid, Tina quickly became popular with audiences and featured in numerous major storylines.
However, in 2014, following five years on the iconic cobbles, Tina met her demise when she was pushed from a balcony. Despite initially surviving the fall, she was bludgeoned to death with a metal pole by Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
Following her departure, Michelle has remained occupied – securing parts in productions including BBC hit Our Girl and Sky comedy series Brassic. She also starred as the lead in the Netflix thriller Fool Me Once.
As audiences will recall, on the soap lately, villainous Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) has begun to be exposed for mistreating boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) following months of tormenting him, reports the Daily Star.
Todd’s father figure and colleague, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) saw right through the malicious builder, alongside Todd’s friends Gary Windass (Mikey North), Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins).
And in Friday’s episode (April 10), attempting to expose Theo and rescue Todd, Sarah arranged to meet Theo’s ex-wife Danielle (Natalie Anderson), whom he abandoned for Todd. Gathering at the bistro, Sarah enquired whether Theo had ever been violent towards her.
Danielle became incensed at the implication as she forcefully rejected Sarah’s questions, just as Theo and Todd arrived, sparking a heated confrontation.
Subsequently, at the Rovers, Sarah opened up to Gary, George and Christina about the incident before the locals attempted to devise another strategy to remove Theo.
Nevertheless, as the group brainstormed about handling Theo, viewers couldn’t help but do a double-take, as an extra seated behind Gary in the pub ‘looked just like’ a former soap icon.
On a Corrie Facebook fan page, viewers joked that former resident Tina McIntyre had returned. Alongside a photograph of the character, one person wrote: “Did anyone else have to rewind several times thinking ‘Tina’ (Michelle Keegan) was coming back as a ghost.”
Other fans concurred as a second responded: “Yes. I noticed the resemblance.” A third also wrote: “I noticed as well.” Sharing their sentiments, another stated: “Yes ! You are correct.”
