EastEnders Soap Scoop! Nigel passes away

EastEnders has aired a romantic development for Max Branning and Cindy Beale in the aftermath of the car crash involving them, Ravi Gulati and his family.

Tonight’s episode of the BBC soap saw a heroic gesture on Max’s part when he, Cindy and baby Jimmy got stuck in the car following the impact. Max managed to free himself and entrusted baby Jimmy to a shocked Priya, but couldn’t get Cindy out of the car right away.

As smoke started billowing out of the vehicle, a terrified Cindy cried for help, with Max realising they couldn’t wait for the ambulance to get to the scene. He first cut Cindy’s seatbelt loose but, as she still couldn’t move, Max asked Ravi for help.

As Ravi’s mental health took a dive, he sat in his car, staring vacantly at Max and Priya and refusing to get out. He finally opened the door only to scream at Max to leave him alone.

The situation got even more tense when Cindy called for help as flames were coming out of the engine. Max rushed to her side, got in the driver’s seat and strained to push Cindy’s seat back so she could wiggle out.

They finally made it out of the vehicle, but Cindy lamented feeling dizzy and collapsed on the pavement.

Adamant they should move as far away from the car as possible, Max tried to cheer up a scared Cindy.

“You’ve done scarier things. You’ve married Ian Beale,” Max joked as he helped her get up and get away from the car just moments before it exploded.

Later on in the ambulance, Cindy thanked him.

“For a selfish person, you really do care quite a lot about people, don’t you?” she said, adding: “What you did tonight, Max, was amazing.”

She then leaned over and kissed him.

“What was that for?” a surprised Max asked, to which she replied: “Couldn’t tell you.”

At the hospital, Max and baby Jimmy reunited with a worried Lauren and Peter. Max then went to see Cindy, asking her once again about the kiss.

“It was kind of hot, like two explosions in one night,” Max said, finding the courage to invite her out for lunch the following week.

As Cindy seemed pensive, a teary-eyed Max apologised for what having caused her son Steven’s death. Back in 2017, Steven died of a cardiac arrest hours after a fight with Max.

“I am sorry about Steven,” he said as he broke down and Cindy held his hand.

Next week, it seems that Max and Cindy might have a real shot at romance. She intends to stand him up on their date but gets jealous after spotting him with Linda Carter and reconsiders. But how will Lauren and Peter react to their parents dating?

Max Branning (Jake Wood) and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) are pushed closer together in EastEnders next week as they are involved in a horror car accident.

The dangerous duo have been at the centre of a love-hate, will-they-won’t-they storyline since they first hooked up upon Max’s return to Walford at the end of last year – with Cindy unaware at the time that he was the man responsible for the death of her son Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) back in 2017.

While Cindy learned of his identity in spectacular fashion at their shared grandson Jimmy’s christening, she has been unable to deny the sizzling sexual chemistry between her and Max, and they fell back into each other’s arms again last month.

Now, with Cindy being teased as one of the four women that Max was set to marry in the New Year’s Day flashforward episode, EastEnders is further building towards that possibility when the pair are caught in a terrifying situation together in forthcoming scenes.

It all begins Ravi Gulati’s (Aaron Thiara) worsening mental state leads to him dropping a bombshell on his son Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) that leaves their whole family reeling.

Ravi’s partner Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan-Levy)  is at a loss for how to get him to accept help, so she tricks him into going to hospital by suggesting they all leave Walford together.

As Priya is driving them in a car she’s borrowed from the car lot, Ravi cottons on to her secret plan and a row breaks out.

At the same time, Nugget starts to have another seizure in the back seat, and Priya momentarily takes her eyes off the road, causing her to lose control of the car.

It then veers off the road and straight into Max and Cindy, who are returning home from a nursery mixer with baby Jimmy.

An injured Max escapes from the car and launches a desperate mission to rescue Cindy and Jimmy.

Fortunately, he manages to get them both out to safety, and relieved they are all fine, Max and Cindy share a moment before heading to the hospital, where their feelings deepen.

Is this the moment that seals Cindy becoming Max’s mystery bride?
