Emmerdale spoilers: Scheming Dr Todd uses romance with Vanessa to destroy Jacob’s life
Dr Todd (Caroline Harker) is upping her campaign of evil against Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant).
Whether it’s because she feels threatened by him or just really doesn’t like him, the respected doc seems hellbent on running Jacob’s career into the ground.
It started with her being overly hard on him, which she sneakily said was down to the fact she knew he was good. Then she looked for any opportunity to undermine him and crush his confidence. Fast forward a few weeks and she has claimed he’s stalking her while he’s been forced to visit HR.
Evidently, things are not settling down.
She moved to the village after a bitter divorce and has been trying to turn the locals against Jacob ever since.
Jacob found this incredibly awkward, but now that baby Leyla has arrived, he’s a bit more preoccupied.
That won’t stop Todd, however.
She has purposefully ingratiated herself in village life with the ladies, making firm friends with Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) and Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker). They’re in the pub having a girls’ night when Mary suggests a darts match, putting Vanessa and Todd on the same team.
Todd grabs the opportunity to start flirting with Vanessa. It’s not for romance, it’s for more manipulation purposes. She uses the opportunity to plant negative seeds about Jacob to undermine him even further than she already has.
Todd is determined to paint a terrible picture of the aspiring doctor to prevent him from ever progressing. She also knows a secret about him that no doubt she’ll be using to make his life even worse.
If Vanessa starts reciprocating the flirting it would mean Todd is here to stay. Will the sinister Doc succeed in ruining Jacob’s life?
Jacob Sugden has withdrawn his complaint against Dr Todd in Emmerdale and they’ve resolved to start afresh. However it’s clear the devious doc has absolutely no intention of putting this behind them and is coming for Jacob again next week.
She further involves Vanessa Woodfield in her plan to bring Jacob down. But will Vanessa fall for it?
Jacob withdrew the complaint against Dr Todd in Emmerdale tonight
When Todd discovered the secret that the baby wasn’t Jacob’s, fans were convinced she was going to blackmail Charity into making Jacob drop his case against her. Sure enough, that’s exactly what she did.
She smiled as she politely suggested Charity might want to talk to Jacob about his complaint. Charity knew the implication: her secret would be safe if she did as she was told.
So Charity talked to Jacob. Told him now he had a family he had to think about them and suggested this wasn’t the way to go.
Jacob then went to HR and told them he was withdrawing his complaint. Carol told him she was disappointed as he wasn’t the first person who had come to her about Dr Todd. But they needed Jacob on the record to make it stick.
Jacob remained firm though and later caught up with Todd in the village to reveal his decision. She was pleased and told him once he was back from paternity leave they would make a fresh start.
However as he walked away, she commented to Manpreet: “Poor Jacob, little does he know his biggest lessons are still to come.”
Her tone was sinister and made it clear she wasn’t talking about his new role as a dad.
Dr Todd steps up her game next week
Jacob is still finding things with Todd awkward next week. She seems ever-present now she is involved in village life.
Vanessa, Todd and Manpreet are all in the pub bonding when Mary suggests a doubles darts match. She puts Todd and Vanessa on the same team.
As things get underway it’s clear Todd is flirting with Vanessa. V is oblivious however and doesn’t pick up on it at all.
Later, Todd uses the opportunity to tell Vanessa some lies about Jacob. And she continues to manipulate the next day as she spreads more untruths to change people’s opinions of the student.
As the ladies arrange another darts match, is Todd’s growing closeness to Vanessa going to impact Jacob even more? And can he ever find a way out from her bullying?
