BREAKING NEWS!!! Coronation Street casts EastEnders star for Tyrone’s huge new story

Coronation Street Soap Scoop! Shock death aftermath
Ian Burfield is set to add another soap to his belt as he joins the cast of Coronation Street. The actor, who has previously appeared in EastEnders as DCI Peter Arthurs and The Bill, will reportedly star as Tyrone Dobbs’s estranged father, Ross, in the ITV soap.
As per The Sun, the actor, who has played various police officers during his time in Walford, will soon set foot on the cobbles of Weatherfield for a storyline in which Tyrone reunites with his father after several years of estrangement.

It was reported earlier this week that the ITV soap was looking to bring in a new arc for Tyrone, with producer Kate Brooks teasing that it would be an “explosive” family reunion amid Cassie Plummer’s impending exit.
“Tyrone’s dad makes an appearance in the show. Needless to say, he comes with quite a bit of drama,” teased Brooks. “It’s going to cause quite a lot of friction within that family, obviously with Cassie’s history.”
“As you know, Cassie’s leaving us, and so it will contribute to her exit, which is going to be massive and quite explosive. It’ll be full of all the twists and turns that you can come to expect from an exit story.”

“He comes into the world of Fiz and Tyrone. Tyrone’s in the mindset of: ‘I’m in my 40’s, I’ve survived this long without a dad!’ But the dad is very keen to connect with Tyrone,” continued the producer.

“It’s not long before he makes eyes at one of the residents – maybe a relationship starts there. It really shines a spotlight on Fiz and Tyrone as a couple and that family dynamic. Cassie is, needless to say, not happy that this guy has turned back up!”
In addition to his roles in The Bill and EastEnders, Burfield has had part in Holby City and Doctors as well as an appearance in BBC’s Merlin.
continuing, and putting a strain on his marriage to Fiz.
Alan Halsall’s character was left with life-altering injuries following a hit-and-run incident. It resulted in him having fractured vertebrae, undergoing emergency surgery and not being able to feel his legs when he woke up.
Viewers on Monday (October 13), saw his recovery take a step backwards when he fell out of his wheelchair while at home.
Believing his wife Fiz to be on her way home, his mum Cassie left him alone to go out for a drunken afternoon with Steve McDonald. But when she returned home, she found him laying on the floor.
Corrie has confirmed the coming months see Tyrone deal with both the mental and physical effects of his injury.

Manchester arena bomb survivor and vice president of the Spinal Injuries Association Martin Hibbert has been giving the soap’s research team help with the storyline.
After meeting Hibbert and his wife, Gabby, Halsall said: “We are so grateful to Martin and Gabby for giving up their time to talk to us about their experiences.
“We might be telling this story on screen but at the end of the day we go home to our family and friends and leave behind what the characters are going through.
“Even just trying to negotiate getting round the set in the wheelchair has been a real eyeopener for me so to hear Martin’s own stories about how his life has changed has been really helpful and also humbling.”
Fiz actor Jennie McAlpine added: “For Fiz trying to juggle family life and caring for Tyrone is really difficult.

“It was invaluable for us to meet them both and hear Gabby’s side of their story, for them their lives changed in an instant in so many ways and that is what Fiz is having to deal with whilst looking after Tyrone.”
Hibbert added he was “impressed” that Corrie has chosen to tell this story.
“Spinal cord injury can happen to anyone, at any time, and having such a big TV programme shine a light on the realities of living with it will make a huge difference.
“By showing that ordinary people can be affected, it helps to raise awareness, break down barriers and start vital conversations about life after injury. It was an honour for Gabby and I to share our experience and see first-hand the care and respect the team are putting into getting this right.”
