SOAP SNOOZE Bored Coronation Street fans slam ‘unrealistic’ episode – despite cobbles resident ‘cheating’ on wife

CORONATION Street fans have criticized the soap for airing a ‘boring’ and ‘confusing’ episode on Wednesday night.

It comes amid the cobbles’ hotly-anticipated ‘murder week’, which was tipped to be ultra-dramatic and is leading up to one character’s demise.

Whilst the episode did see a cheating scandal arise, with a baffled David Platt at the centre, fans weren’t impressed with some of the details during the show, branding it ‘unrealistic’.

Centering around the Platt family and sisters Shona and Jodie, the episode saw the latter scheme to wreak havoc in her sibling’s marriage.

Shona had previously claimed she never received a letter Jodie had sent her about leaving the family home, but the new instalment saw Jodie discover Shona had been lying, and did chose to ignore the letter all along.

And when Shona left her phone behind at the house as she headed out, Jodie saw the perfect opportunity to get revenge.

However, fans said that it was ‘unrealistic’ for Shona to have left her phone at home

They also slammed Jodie’s episode as more ‘boring’ than the others this week

After spotting a text on Shona’s phone from a drunk David about having some fun in the bedroom, Jodie used the phone to reply and pretended to be her sister.

She then hatched a plan to pretend to be Shona in bed when David came home, before revealing herself and catching him ‘cheating’.

But taking to X, many fans were confused as to why Shona would leave the house without her phone, and not notice.

Dubbing it ‘unrealistic’, one tweeted: “Who goes out without their phone??”

“As if Shona would leave her phone behind! Just like Lisa wouldn’t have left all of her police stuff behind either!” said another.

A third wrote: “Why do people leave their phones laying around in soaps #Corrie”.

During the episode, Jodie’s plan to lure David in did work, with the pair sharing a kiss until he quickly realised she wasn’t his wife.

A furious David stormed out of the room and kicked Jodie out, but not before she twisted the story and accused him of wanting to seduce her.

This week, dubbed ‘Murder week’ by soap fans, is set to see one resident of the cobbles murdered.

Jodie, alongside Carl Webster, Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh and Theo Silverton, is at risk of being the victim.

This means that each episode has been focusing on one of these characters.

But despite Jodie’s antics with David, fans weren’t overly impressed with her episode.

“Compared to the week so far – I found Jodie’s ep really boring #Corrie,” said one.

A second said: “It’s actually boring how long it’s taking for this storyline this week #Corrie dragging it out each ep”.

Another echoed: “Terrible episode tonight. Boring now #Corrie”.
