Coronation Street Soap Scoop! Mystery death week

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas played Jason Grimshaw on the ITV soap from 2000 to 2016. During that time, he became a fan favourite among viewers who still ask him for photos to this day.

However, the actor has allegedly landed a “reputation” when it comes to meeting fans, which his brothers Adam and Scott Thomas mentioned on their podcast At Home with The Thomas Bros.

On a recent episode, the brothers were discussing fan encounters when Emmerdale‘s Adam told Ryan: “You have got a reputation for being quite rude when people ask for pictures.”

Ryan addressed the claim, recalling a specific incident where “there was like two or three people asking for photos” while they were working. The actor defended his behaviour at the time, saying: “I’m not terrible, actually… I’m the same as you, I’m good with people.”

As Ryan continued with his story, Adam interjected by saying that the fan in question was “an old lady”, to which the former replied: “Throw me under the bus, why don’t you?”

“It was an old lady and she asked for a picture, and I was like, ‘Ryan, can you get in the picture?’ And he was like, ‘God, go on then’,” Adam said, before asking Ryan to explain himself.

“She was there, and she was taking pictures. And we both leant in and we did a picture, while she was taking the pictures without even asking,” said the Corrie star.

Twins Adam and Scott continued to rib their brother, suggesting the old lady was “struggling with her phone” and was too nervous to ask to be in the selfie. Ryan shared that he was left feeling like he’s “not nice to people” after getting a telling off from Adam at the time.

Scott then eased up on Ryan, explaining that he was an “old-school celebrity” and “used to get absolutely pestered all the time” even when working. The Love Island star said that he feels like taking a picture is a “non-negotiable”.

He jokingly added: “Ryan’s a Gemini, right. So if you catch Ryan on a good day, you will get the works. You’ll get looked after, you’ll get taken shopping, you’ll get everything. You catch him on a bad day, you’re getting f**k all!”

He is no stranger to being approached by fans, but on an episode of his podcast series At Home with The Thomas Bros, he was quizzed about the ‘rude’ reputation he’s allegedly made for himself.

Adam, 37, also an actor, best known for starring in Waterloo Road, said: ‘You have got a reputation for being quite rude when people ask for pictures.’

Ryan then recalled a specific interaction and said: ‘There was like two or three people asking for photos. I’m not terrible, actually, I’m the same as you.

‘I’m good with people but it’s like this girl or guy…’

Ryan Thomas, 41, has addressed claims that he has been ‘rude’ to Corrie fans over the years – including an ‘old lady’ who asked him for a photograph

The actor has been a familiar face on British telly since he stepped into the shoes of Coronation Street’s Jason Grimshaw way back in 2000

Adding some more detail to the recollection, Adam interrupted: ‘It was an old lady.’

Ryan insisted: ‘I’m not actually rude though.’

Recounting the situation, Adam said that when the old lady asked for a picture, Ryan appeared to rudely reply: ‘God, go on then.’

The Corrie star attempted to defend his short response and said: ‘She was taking pictures and we both leant in and we did a picture while she was taking the pictures without even asking.

Adam was then berated by his co-stars who said the old lady seemed too nervous to ask for a picture and was ‘struggling with her phone’.

Scott, 37, who rose to fame on Love Island, added: ‘Cause Ryan’s like an old-school celebrity…

‘You get used to being absolutely pestered all the time even when you’re working, whereas I feel like taking a picture is a non-negotiable.’

But while Ryan did his best to defend himself, when the clip was posted online, fans were quick to share their similar experiences with the star.

Many fans claimed that Ryan was also ‘rude’ to them, but the actor was defended by some fans too.

They shared: ‘I bumped into him in the ritz years ago.. I can confirm he was rude.’;

‘I was in Ibiza with my family years ago. Noticed him and was like “omg” etc and yes can confirm he was rude [sic].’;

‘Hahaha I met him at Corrie [the set] and to be fair he was actually really nice lol.’;’

‘I have a photo with Ryan when he was doing his walk from London to Manchester. He was fine.’

It comes after Ryan stepped in to defend his brother Adam Thomas amid a ‘bullying’ row with David Haye.

Over the weekend, Waterloo Road star Adam, 37, revealed he had been left ‘broken’ by his time on the ITV show after clashing with boxer David, 45, in a tense episode.

He revealed how he had struggled ‘physically, mentally and emotionally’ during his time on the show, suffering with his arthritis that left him in frequent pain.

Adam was seen being branded ‘useless’ by David as talk turned to who was going to take part in the most recent trial, when the actor revealed he was struggling with the pain of the condition, which he was diagnosed with three years ago. He shared an image of himself looking downcast while in the I’m A Celeb camp, as he told fans how he struggled to ‘hide the pain’ during the experience.

And the comments made by David left both his fans, friends and family infuriated, as Adam’s brothers, actors Ryan, 41, and twin Scott, 37, admitted they felt their ‘blood boiling’.

Reacting to his emotional statement posted to Instagram, Scott penned: ‘I wish I could have been there for you my brother…

‘It makes me so angry that you went through that…but I’m so proud of how you’ve come out of the other side of all this…the strongest you’ve ever been and on an incredible journey…standing in your power.’

He added in a post shared on his stories: ‘It’s tough watching my twin bro go through all of that in there… makes my blood boil!

‘To see someone’s pure heart be tested like that is hard to watch, especially my brothers’. But I understand he had to go through his own journey in there and the man he’s becoming during/since this experience has made me so proud.’

Older brother Ryan added under the original post, joking of his clash with David: ‘I would like to say I would stick up for you in there but he’s not the guy to pick a fight with.’

Adam’s celebrity friends also rallied around him under the post, with I’m A Celeb co-star Ashley Roberts adding: ‘Adam bless you. You have such a big heart. I’m sorry you struggled in there.’

Soap star Danny Miller added: ‘You’re a beautiful man and those who really know you know what you bring to their lives. Love and laughter, you’ve handled yourself incredibly as always! Love you brother.’

While Carol Vorderman chimed in: ‘Adam… I love you. We’ve spoken about arthritis and it’s so hard to describe the all consuming pain and exhaustion it gives you to someone who hasn’t had it.
