MUST-SEE NEWS TODAY!!! Exclusive: Coronation Street’s Betsy and Dylan to lead “powerful” new story

Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has shared more details of Betsy Swain’s big new storyline, promising that “powerful” scenes are on the way for the teenager.

Betsy and her boyfriend Dylan Wilson are expected to feature prominently later this year as the ITV soap explores their relationship further.

When we caught up with Vicky on set recently, we asked how involved her character Lisa Swain will be in Betsy’s new dramas.

Speaking exclusively to us, Vicky laughed: “Massively! Well, I’m saying massively because she is Betsy’s mother. So if Betsy’s involved, I think it’s safe to say that Lisa will be somewhere looking over her shoulder!

“But what’s to come is huge and I’m looking forward to getting started with it. That is extremely powerful but I can’t say much about it. It is going to be brilliant.”

Vicky went on to praise Sydney Martin and Liam McCheyne, who play Betsy and Dylan.

“I’m really excited for both of them – both Liam and Sydney – because it’s something that is going to be challenging for them,” she said.

“But they have the skills and talent to showcase it, so I’m excited – if that’s the right word!”

Liam first teased Dylan and Betsy’s next chapter in a recent interview with Inside Soap magazine.

“It’s going to be quite a big 2026,” Liam said. “I’ve got a nice storyline to get my teeth stuck into, which is great.

“It’ll be quite a lot of work with Sydney [Martin, who plays Betsy]. It’s very coming of age. It’s a subject storyline, which is obviously Corrie‘s speciality – it’s one thing the show is amazing at. So I’m very excited for that.”

Meanwhile, anticipation is growing for a historic episode this Thursday (23 April) as Lisa finally ties the knot with Carla Connor.

The couple get to enjoy their happy day, unaware of the drama unfolding elsewhere on the cobbles as Betsy finds a body.

“I think it will be a turning point for Lisa in many ways,” Vicky added. “Betsy’s getting older. Lisa’s now married. She’s settled in Weatherfield, on Coronation Street.

“It’s going to be really interesting to see what she’s like as a character now and how she evolves. She’s settled, she’s calmer. She’s in a trusting, loving, supportive relationship and she feels understood by Carla.

“But will this galvanise everything that she’s feeling and make her feel stronger? Maybe we’ll see this new element to it, I hope so. Because it’d be a nice chance for her to relax into this relationship and get her feet firmly under the table in Weatherfield.”

Coronation Street’s Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) and Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) finally give into their feelings for one another this week – but their romantic realisation could not come at a worse time.

The teens have long shared a close bond but the recent death of Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) has strengthened the grieving pair’s friendship.

But things take a romantic turn in forthcoming scenes – just as Dylan is awaiting his fate, having been charged with possessing the knife that Matty and Logan Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff and Harry Lowbridge) used to kill their brother.

As he prepares for his big day in court, Dylan is certain he will be going down.

When Betsy hears this, she she urges him to stay positive and tries to offer him some comfort.

After assuring her friend that she will visit him inside, the pair then share a tender moment.

Dylan is stunned when Betsy leans in for a kiss, and he soon kisses her back.

While temporarily buoyed by the development, reality later hits for Dylan when things don’t go as his brief Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) had hoped in court.

The judge then confirms Dylan will serve a sentence in the secure training centre – but how long will he get? And what will this mean for his fledgling romance with Betsy?

Speaking about the knife-crime storyline, actor Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan, recently said: ‘It’s an absolute privilege to be able to do this storyline and of course it’s great as an actor to have one as important as this.

‘The power of soaps at the minute is that we target social issues and different audiences within one episode. This storyline I’m currently involved in is predominantly aimed towards younger people, and if we can get even just one person to stop carrying a knife, then the storyline has done its job.’
