EastEnders’ Zack Hudson feels like a total failure next week, as Barney Mitchell discovers that his biological dad can’t afford to keep a roof over their heads! The father-son duo face eviction when it’s revealed that Zack has let some secret money troubles get out of hand…
“Zack’s priorities have changed immeasurably since he moved to the Square – gone are the days when he only had to worry about how to afford protein powder and hair products!” says our Walford insider.
“He’s loved every minute of having Barney stay with him and getting to spend a lot more time with his teen son – but now that he’s feeling the pinch, their future is under threat…”
At the start of the week, Zack is visibly deflated when Kathy pressures him to buy an engagement present for Vicki and Ross. The couple recently announced that they were set to get married, which completely broke Zack’s heart, as he and Vicki were previously grappling with their own feelings for each other.
Zack isn’t keen to get Vicki and Ross a gift to celebrate their happy news, but it’s not just because he feels jealous – an engagement present is an extra expense that he just can’t deal with at the moment.

It seems that he is falling into an increasingly dire financial situation, but rather than seek help from anyone, Zack reckons it’s best to hide his concerns from his family.
“Zack is a proud man, so he doesn’t want to admit that he’s behind on his rent payments,” explains our source. “His shifts in The Vic’s kitchen just aren’t enough to make up the shortfall, so it’s a real crisis!”
Despite Zack’s attempts to keep his money troubles from his son, it isn’t long before Barney stumbles across the shocking truth when he realises they’re going to be kicked out of their flat. Feeling let down, Barney falls out with his desperate dad – then decides to tell Vicki just how dire things are.
How much will she want to get involved in Zack’s woes after their recent dalliance? Could Vicki be the answer to Zack’s prayers – and could this situation bring them closer together again?
