Lives are in danger, a dark proposition is delivered and someone tries to ensure justice is served in Coronation Street next week.

Carla Connor (Alison King) is panic stricken when she spots smoke billowing from Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) flat windows. With Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) already on the scene calling the emergency services, it’d seem crisis has been averted, but little do they know, Roy’s asleep in the flat.

As Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) comes to terms with learning that Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) was responsible for Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) death, she’s completely taken aback by an incredibly grim offer from Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).

Speaking of Theo, the abuser is desperate to flee the cobbles now everybody is fully aware of what he’s been doing to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), but Gary Windass (Mikey North) isn’t prepared to let him get away so easily.

Carla’s utterly horrified when she passes Roy’s Rolls and sees smoking seeping from the windows, with Dev hurriedly calling a fire engine.

She’s panicked, and despite Bernie’s protestations that Roy and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) are safely away at a bat convention, she remains so.

As Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) and Dev head off to ensure that the neighbouring flats are empty, Carla seeks reassurance that Roy definitely isn’t upstairs, but although Bernie comforts her, she’s unaware that Roy is in the flat and is rapidly being consumed by the smoke.

Will anybody save Roy in time?

She’s downcast, though, when Carl reveals that the only evidence he has is an overheard confession the day before the funeral. Thinking on his feet, though, he promises Summer he can get a recorded confession from Theo.

Like a shark that smells blood, he enquires as to whether or not Billy’s life insurance has come through and promises a hurting Summer that he’ll deliver Theo’s head on a plate for £10,000.

As Bernie interrupts them, Carl slithers away, and she asks Summer what’s going on? Will Summer tell Bernie of Carl’s dark offer?carla and lisa in coronation street

With the residents of Weatherfield now fully aware of his true colours, Theo is desperate to escape. There’s a big problem, though.

Gary has his keys.

Theo tries in earnest to convince Gary that he’s heading to the police station, but he’s not fooled and is prepared to deliver him personally, armed with an incredibly intimidating looking wrench.

Coronation Street has aired a big update for Carla Connor and Lisa Swain, as they made their relationship official.

Tonight’s (November 29) episode saw Carla discharged from hospital, after she was attacked during a break-in at the factory. When Roy Cropper and Ryan Connor arrived to take her home, Carla admitted she was hoping Lisa may have come with them.

“I thought she might be along at the same time as you, but I’m obviously kidding myself, aren’t I?” she sighed, adding: “I don’t really know where I stand [with Lisa], to be honest.”

Meanwhile, Roy found a dejected Lisa at his cafe and informed her that Carla was back at home.

“I know you and Carla care for one another and that neither of you is happy with how the relationship, or lack thereof, is at the moment,” he appealed to her.

Lisa quickly shut down his match-making attempts, telling him she was “just trying to do what’s best” for Betsy. “You know, I go to work and I look after my daughter. That’s all I’ve got time for right now,” she explained.

However, Roy reminded the detective that Betsy would be “making her own way in the world soon enough,” adding: “And you’ll be on your own”.

Roy’s intervention seemed to have worked as later Lisa visited Carla at her flat. She admitted she does have feelings for Carla and wanted to give their relationship a chance.

“I have feelings for you and if you’re prepared to give me another chance, I’d really like to see where things could go… with us,” she announced.

However, Carla was reluctant to believe Lisa, and questioned her reasoning. She revealed she didn’t want to “let her guard down” any more, as she was worried Lisa might change her mind again.

Finally, Lisa was able to reassure Carla of her feelings and the pair shared a kiss. They then revealed their new relationship to Betsy, who was surprisingly supportive.

With Lisa out of the room, Carla told Betsy that she wasn’t going to tell Lisa about her involvement in the robbery, but warned her against any more bad behaviour. Will the trio be able to play happy families?
