Jacob unable to escape in Emmerdale as Dr Todd’s bullying campaign worsens

Just when you thought Emmerdale’s Doctor Todd (Caroline Harker) couldn’t be any more of a horrible boss. The not-so-good Doctor turns the tables on her victim Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) by making him seem like the toxic one…

Doctor Todd is doing everything in her power to make Jacob scared of going to work. Nothing he ever does is good enough. She belittles him, gives him a ridiculous amount of work to do for an impossible deadline, and then turns around and tears it to shreds.

Not only did she criticise Jacob instead of comforting him when he was attacked by Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) in the grips of PTSD, but she got on his case for misdiagnosing Kim Tate (Claire King) with mushroom poisoning and actually encouraged her to make an official complaint about the poor lad.

Thing seem to get a little better recently, after Jacob witnessed his boss lose her temper with an elderly patient suffering with dementia… who turned out to be her father.

In an emotional heart to heart, Todd opened up about her life outside the hospital to Jacob, so teacher and student were left with a better understanding of each other.

Or so Jacob thought. Upcoming scenes of Emmerdale reveal that Doctor Caitlin Todd is still on a one-woman missing to make Jacob’s time at work a waking nightmare.

Jacob is relieved when Todd assures him things are fine between them, unaware that Todd is recording an audio log accusing Jacob of obsessive behaviour.

But later, Jacob’s uncomfortable to see that Todd is moving in to with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick). Could there be a romance developing here? Whatever the case, it’s bad news for Jacob that Todd will be living in the heart of the village…

And when Todd starts playing the same old mind games, Jacob’s at his wit’s end and arranges to swap with Rich to get away from the old battle-axe just for one day.

However, his stomach drops to hear that swapping placements has led to him working with Dr Todd tomorrow rather than escaping her.Could Jacob’s week get any worse?

Short answer – yes. Because savvy Todd is already manipulating Manpreet into believing that Jacob’s obsessed with her.

Meanwhile, savvy Todd manipulates Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) into believing that Jacob’s obsessed with her.

In upcoming episodes of Emmerdale, the situation spirals even further out of control for Jacob Gallagher, and what once seemed like a difficult working relationship transforms into something far more sinister and calculated. Despite Jacob’s brief hope that Doctor Caitlin Todd might soften after revealing her personal struggles, it quickly becomes clear that her vulnerability was nothing more than a fleeting crack in an otherwise ruthless façade.

Jacob, already emotionally drained, walks into work the next day trying to hold on to the belief that things might improve. After all, Todd had reassured him that there were no hard feelings. But almost immediately, subtle signs begin to emerge that something is very wrong. Todd’s tone, while outwardly calm, carries a sharp edge. Her instructions are vague yet impossible to meet, and when Jacob inevitably falls short, she wastes no time in highlighting his “failures” in front of others.

Behind the scenes, however, Todd is taking things to an entirely new level. Unknown to Jacob, she continues to build her case against him, carefully curating a narrative that paints him as unstable and dangerously fixated on her. The audio recordings she secretly makes become more detailed, more alarming, and more convincing with each passing day. She twists innocent interactions into something deeply uncomfortable, reframing Jacob’s attempts to communicate as intrusive and obsessive.

Meanwhile, Jacob begins to feel increasingly isolated. Colleagues who once treated him warmly now seem distant, their attitudes subtly shifting as Todd’s version of events starts to spread. Even casual conversations feel loaded, as if everyone is quietly judging him. The workplace, once a place where he hoped to grow and prove himself, becomes suffocating.

Things take another devastating turn when Todd’s move into the village becomes official. Her presence in Jacob’s personal world eliminates any sense of escape he once had. Seeing her outside of work—whether passing by on the street or interacting with familiar faces—only heightens his anxiety. It’s no longer just a professional nightmare; it’s a constant, inescapable pressure.

Her connection with Vanessa Woodfield raises even more concerns for Jacob. While their relationship may appear friendly—or potentially romantic—it places Todd deeper into the heart of the community. For Jacob, this means that Todd now has greater influence and more opportunities to shape how others perceive him. Every interaction becomes a potential trap.

Desperate for relief, Jacob tries once again to change his circumstances. His attempt to swap placements, which initially seems like a lifeline, backfires spectacularly. Instead of gaining distance from Todd, he finds himself pulled right back under her supervision. The crushing realization that he cannot escape her control sends him into a spiral of frustration and dread.

At the same time, Todd’s manipulation of Manpreet Sharma begins to take root. Presenting herself as concerned and composed, Todd subtly plants the idea that Jacob’s behavior has crossed professional boundaries. She frames her concerns as protective rather than accusatory, making it difficult for Manpreet to question her motives. Gradually, doubt begins to creep in, and Jacob’s already fragile support system starts to erode.

Jacob, sensing that something is terribly wrong, struggles to defend himself. But without concrete proof of Todd’s deception, his protests risk reinforcing the very image she’s creating. Every attempt to explain himself sounds, to others, like deflection or denial. It’s a psychological trap with no easy way out.

As the pressure mounts, Jacob’s confidence takes a severe hit. Once eager and determined, he now second-guesses every decision, every word, every action. The fear of making another “mistake” becomes paralyzing. Even routine tasks feel overwhelming under the constant scrutiny and criticism.

What makes Todd’s campaign particularly chilling is how methodical it is. She doesn’t lash out impulsively; instead, she carefully orchestrates each move, ensuring that she always appears credible and composed. To outsiders, she is the picture of professionalism. To Jacob, she is a relentless force determined to break him.

The emotional toll becomes impossible to ignore. Jacob’s stress begins to manifest physically, and those closest to him start to notice that something is off. Yet even then, he hesitates to fully open up, fearing that speaking out could make things worse. Todd has already proven that she can twist the narrative—what’s stopping her from doing it again?

As the storyline unfolds, viewers are left questioning just how far Todd is willing to go. Is this about control, revenge, or something deeper rooted in her own unresolved issues? And more importantly, will Jacob find a way to expose the truth before his reputation—and his future—is completely destroyed?

One thing is certain: Jacob’s ordeal is far from over. If anything, it’s only just beginning.
