Sister Wives star Janelle Brown is dishing some hard truths to her ex-husband Kody Brown.

Janelle, 55, told Kody, 55, that she was considering moving to North Carolina to be closer to Madison “Maddie” Brush

(née Brown) and her grandchildren Axel and Evie on the Sunday, November 3 episode of Sister Wives.

(The episode was filmed in 2022 and Maddie has since given birth to baby No. 3 Josephine.) In response, Kody asked Janelle, “Why didn’t she call me to tell me she was having a baby?”

Janelle, who shares six children with Kody, told him that their kids were “feeling very estranged” from him. Janelle also shared that Maddie, 28, felt her father “hasn’t shown much interest” in the two children she already had.

“Maddie has observed to me that Kody has not been out to see her kids since Evie was born and Evie’s 3,” Janelle said in a private confessional. “Maddie’s like, ‘Why would I tell him that I’m having another one? He hasn’t really shown that much interest in the other two.’”

Kody felt his daughter should shoulder most of the blame because she chose to move thousands of miles away with her husband, Caleb Brush. Kody called it an “unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in the grandchildrens’ lives” with that much distance between them.

The father of 18 went on to slam his daughter’s logic, telling cameras that she’s “talking like I’ve done some kind of evil to them. I’m missing something here.” Instead, he blamed the turmoil in their relationship on “jealousy and gossip.”

Maddie’s relationship with her father has seemingly taken a turn following his 2022 split from her mother. During the October 6 episode, Kody discussed his estrangement from many of his children with his wife, Robyn Brown.

Despite Robyn, 45, urging him to put more effort into connecting with the children he shares with ex-wives Meri Brown, Christine Brown, and Janelle, Kody insisted that his kids weren’t interested in maintaining relationships with him.

“Every time I talk to her, she spreads gossip about me to the rest of the family,” Kody claimed about his relationship with Maddie. “Our family was killed by gossip.” In addition, he claimed that Maddie was among the older kids who avoided him during Logan Brown’s wedding in 2022.

“They’re purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit,” he told Robyn. “I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers.”

In a private confessional, Janelle shared her thoughts on Kody’s viewpoint about Maddie and stated he was wrong. “Kody has this narrative about Madison where she’s such the gossip, but he is as big of a gossip,” she told cameras.

One day after the episode aired, Maddie seemingly clapped back at her father for accusing her of stirring drama by sharing a cryptic quote on social media.

“A piece of advice. Never re-friend or re-family a person who tried to destroy your character, your integrity or your relationship with others,” the October 7 post read. “A snake only sheds its skin to be a bigger snake. If others fall victim and walk away from you because of that, let them … Sooner or later the snake will bite them too.”
