Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) gave Emmerdale viewers quite a scare after last night’s dramatic turn of events seemingly climaxed in the character’s shock exit from the show.
After confessing to the murder of drug-dealing people trafficker Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) to save his friend Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) from being charged for the crime, the troubled teen decided to run from the law and fled into the night.
During a call to his girlfriend April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), Dylan admitted to posting a letter to the police falsely claiming that he killed Ray, so Bear and his son Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) wouldn’t get in trouble.
Horrified, April begged Dylan not to leave and promised they could figure out their next move together. But a heartbroken Dylan was resigned to his fate ‘I think it’s past that point, don’t you?’ He lamented. ‘I love you, all right? Always. I’m sorry’
With that last goodbye, he hung up and left Emmerdale in tears of heartbreak.
However, we might not be seeing the last of Dylan quite yet according to Fred Kettle.
The actor, who portrays the tearaway teenager posted a picture on Instagram yesterday from the village with the captions ‘spring ‘n’ that’ and ‘’beautiful day of filming in the village’.

This is sure to come as a relief to diehard fans of the Dales, who could be forgiven for thinking Emmerdale bosses were preparing to say goodbye to the beloved character due the twists and turns of his latest climactic story.
First seen on our screens in February 2025, Dylan was introduced as a young lad from a troubled home who formed a close bond with April after she ran away from her parents. However, the lovestruck teens would fall under the influence of the ruthless Ray and his mother Celia Daniels (Jay Griffiths), who exploited them both in by forcing them to work in their county lines drug trafficking ring.

In a shocking showdown in January, Ray murdered Celia and then tried to silence Dylan permanently in front of Paddy, so he could never tell the police about his vile crimes. Just when things were looking grim, Bear, who everyone thought Celia had murdered, made a shock return from the grave and strangled the crime lord to death.
Coerced into modern slavery by Ray left Bear deeply traumatised, acting out of instinct to save Dylan’s life, so he and Paddy resolved to cover up the murder. Despite their best efforts, now they are both facing charges for perverting the course of justice.

To end the madness for good, Aaron (Danny Miller) and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) tried to persuade Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy)to claim that she knew Ray was planning to kill Dylan, so Bear lashed out in self-defence. When Laurel was scared of getting caught, her son Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) stepped in and volunteered to lie to the police.
Even though Arthur ultimately didn’t go through with it and Paddy and Dylan were ultimately bailed, this triggered a blazing row between Paddy and Mandy. Feeling responsible, Dylan was overwhelmed with guilt over bringing Ray into their lives and not speaking up about the monster sooner. This prompted his decision to leave.
