Janelle Brown and her family are still grieving over the loss of her son Garrison Brown.
“Every day is a day,” the Sister Wives star, 55, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Us Weekly + Pluto TV Reality Stars of the Year Party at the Dream Hotel on October 10. “You just take it one
day at a time, one moment at a time.”
Janelle shared Garrison with ex-husband Kody Brown. In March, the pair confirmed that Garrison died at age 25. “Janelle and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert ‘Garrison’ Brown,” a joint Instagram post read. “He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. Our loss will leave such a big hole in our lives, that it takes our breath away.”
Us reported at the time that Garrison died by suicide while living in Flagstaff, Arizona. A private funeral was held that same month.
In addition to Garrison, Janelle and Kody, 55, are the parents of daughters Maddie, 28, and Savanah, 19, and sons Logan, 30, Hunter, 27, and Gabriel, 22. Janelle and her family continue to honor Garrison’s memory and want to move forward by focusing on everyone’s emotional well-being.
“I just think you do what you can to support mental health, especially men’s mental health,” she told Us. “And we just continued to try to honor him and remember him.”
Costar Christine Brown, who was also previously married to Kody, chimed in that everyone had “wonderful memories” with Garrison. (Christine and Kody, who split in November 2021, share son Paedon, 26, and daughters Aspyn, 29, Mykelti, 28, Gwendlyn, 23, Ysabel, 21, and Truely, 14.)
“We were super, super lucky to have him in our lives,” Christine, 52, told Us. “And we’ll miss him every day.”
After news broke of Garrison’s death, the entire Brown family rallied around Janelle and Kody following the devastating loss. Christine penned a touching tribute for Garrison.
“Garrison was a wonderful, caring brother who understood Truely’s need for a hobby and built her a flower bed,” Christine wrote via Instagram in March, sharing a video of him working alongside her youngest daughter at their house. “We’ll miss him forever. #gratitude #missyou #loveyou #tellthoseyoulovethatyoulovethem.”
The Sister Wives season 19 premiere, which dropped in September, paid tribute to Garrison.
“This season of Sister Wives began filming in late 2022,” TLC revealed during the episode’s opening credits. “On March 5, 2024, Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison passed away. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.”
