BIG MOVE AHEAD!! Coronation Street’s Maggie makes breakthrough after blackmail plot ramps up
Maggie Driscoll made a breakthrough on Coronation Street as her blackmail storyline ramped up. Earlier this week, the family matriarch was pressured by former daughter-in-law Melanie, who had a dastardly plan.
Melanie arrived in Weatherfield last month following the revelations regarding her son Will, and his athletics coach Megan Walsh. Melanie has attempted to bring Will back to Scotland with her, but found ex-husband Ben hard to convince.

Knowing that simple words wouldn’t do the job, Melanie visited Maggie in hospital earlier this week, and urged her to convince Ben to let Will move. If Maggie didn’t comply, Melanie threatened to tell Ben that Maggie had killed his father, Alan.
Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap saw Maggie continue her rehabilitation following her stay in hospital, with Tim and Sally Metcalfe greeting her with some friendly barbs as she made her way downstairs into the Rovers.
Her mood soured, however, when Melanie walked in. Melanie called Ben over and threatened to tell him everything, but Maggie managed to at least delay the blackmail deadline until the end of the day.
Maggie soon got to convince Ben that Melanie’s idea was a good one, and suggested that a move for Will could be good for him. Not only would it keep him away from Megan, but it would also give the family some time to breathe.

“I’ve been thinking about Melanie’s proposal, and it might not be the worst thing that could happen,” she said. “It doesn’t have to be forever. Just a couple of months. Kill two birds with one stone – Melanie feels she’s doing her bit, and we get our boy away from Megan.”
She added that the “gossips” would move onto another matter once the dust had settled, and Ben appeared to consider the idea for a change. Of course, it’s not a done deal, with the family still having to convince Will to move as well.
Maggie Driscoll will be cornered on Coronation Street as she faces the threat of blackmail. With the family in turmoil following the revelations about Will’s abuse at the hands of Megan Walsh, who attempts to gain leverage over Maggie?
The Driscolls have had it rough over the past few months, with Will being groomed by his athletics coach, Megan. Though he hasn’t seen himself as a victim, the whole family has been worried about his safety.
After the inappropriate relationship became common knowledge, Ben called Will’s mother Melanie, who promptly arrived in Weatherfield and demanded why the teenager wasn’t safeguarded. Furthermore, Melanie has attempted to relocate Will to Scotland.
Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap began with Ben and Melanie arguing over her proposed relocation plan. Ben accused his ex-wife of being self-centred, while Melanie stated that Will needed the move.
As Eva Price attempted to stop the shouting match, Ben revealed that Will had gotten Megan pregnant, and that she had subsequently had an abortion. This furthered Melanie’s belief that Will needed to move away, but Ben was resistant.
Eva had a private conversation with Melanie, and explained that Megan managed to dupe the entire town – as well as two schools – into keeping the relationship a secret. She urged her to not blame Ben over the matter, and to band around Will.
Ben returned to the Rovers, where Eva remarked about her discussion with Melanie. She thought that they had at least reached a middle ground of sorts, but this didn’t look to be the case.
Unbeknownst to the pair, Melanie went to the hospital to visit Maggie, who was recovering from her heart attack. After some initial pleasantries, Melanie’s agenda became clear as she brought up some Driscoll secrets.
She had knowledge that Maggie had killed her husband, Alan, by pushing him down the stairs, and threatened to tell Ben if she didn’t get what she wanted. Her demand for Maggie was simple – convince Ben to let Will move to Scotland.
Though Maggie is never one to shy away from a threat, the matriarch seemingly has no escape here. Will she follow through with Melanie’s demands, or will she feel it is time to tell her son about their past?
