HOTTES NEWS TODAY!!! Coronation Street shares new clues on Betsy and Dylan’s big story

Coronation Street Soap Scoop! Mystery death week
Coronation Street star Sydney Martin has teased more details about Betsy Swain’s coming-of-age storyline, which will follow the teen and her boyfriend Dylan Wilson.
It was recently revealed that Betsy and Dylan will take starring roles in the issue-based plot, with filming taking place this summer.
And now, Sydney has exclusively revealed to Inside Soap that viewers can expect a mixture of emotions to unfold between the young couple.

“Dylan and Betsy have been through a lot together,” she told us. “There’s beautiful moments to come. They’re polar opposites; she’s this ticking time bomb that could go off at any time, and he’s quite grounded and sweet.
“That can create some quite funny scenes, because there’s that natural comedic element of them being so different, but also some beautiful ones. I’m also excited for Liam to get his chance to shine.”
This story marks the first time that Sydney has taken centre stage in a Coronation Street plot, which clearly comes as a huge privilege to her.

“It’s always been great to support my on-screen mums and family, now I get to pave my own way,” smiled the actress, who first appeared on the ITV soap in June 2024. “I’ve been working hard, so I’m really excited for people to see it. It’s going to be a busy summer.”
Meanwhile, Betsy is working part-time as a machinist at stepmum Carla’s factory, Underworld. It’s a dream job for the 18-year-old, who has lofty ambitions to pursue a career in the fashion industry, just like Carla.

“Betsy absolutely adores fashion,” Sydney explained. “I adore working in Underworld, and I love that she wants to take that further. She’s got Carla as a role model and to guide her through it, so I think she’d like to follow in Carla’s footsteps.”

Coronation Street’s Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) and Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) finally give into their feelings for one another this week – but their romantic realisation could not come at a worse time.
The teens have long shared a close bond but the recent death of Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) has strengthened the grieving pair’s friendship.
But things take a romantic turn in forthcoming scenes – just as Dylan is awaiting his fate, having been charged with possessing the knife that Matty and Logan Radcliffe (Seamus McGoff and Harry Lowbridge) used to kill their brother.
As he prepares for his big day in court, Dylan is certain he will be going down.

When Betsy hears this, she she urges him to stay positive and tries to offer him some comfort.
After assuring her friend that she will visit him inside, the pair then share a tender moment.
Dylan is stunned when Betsy leans in for a kiss, and he soon kisses her back.

While temporarily buoyed by the development, reality later hits for Dylan when things don’t go as his brief Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) had hoped in court.
The judge then confirms Dylan will serve a sentence in the secure training centre – but how long will he get? And what will this mean for his fledgling romance with Betsy?
Speaking about the knife-crime storyline, actor Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan, recently said: ‘It’s an absolute privilege to be able to do this storyline and of course it’s great as an actor to have one as important as this.
‘The power of soaps at the minute is that we target social issues and different audiences within one episode. This storyline I’m currently involved in is predominantly aimed towards younger people, and if we can get even just one person to stop carrying a knife, then the storyline has done its job.’
