The end for Dylan in Emmerdale as April is ‘forced to send him to prison’

It’s almost time for Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) and Dylan Penders’ (Fred Kettle) trial in Emmerdale, which means those involved in the ordeal orchestrated by Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) are going to get called to give evidence.

And one of those facing questioning will be April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan).

For the majority of last year, April was dealing drugs for Celia and Ray. She was tricked into believing she had a mountain of debt to pay off, and constantly risked her life in an attempt to shift it.

April took on ‘bigger’ jobs from Ray and Celia in an attempt to clear the debt quicker, which involved her spending time with older men who were attracted to her.

April’s boyfriend Dylan, who she met when she was living on the streets, was also dealing for Ray. When the drugs side of this storyline was eventually exposed, April and her family had to try and move forward.

While this was happening, Paddy and Dylan were busy trying to cover up Bear’s murder of Ray, which happened at the start of the year. The trio really tried their best to keep the truth hidden, but traumatised Bear cracked.

DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) quickly suspected that Bear was hiding something about the day he killed Ray. The determined detective put so much pressure on Bear, she eventually caught him out in a lie.

When Paddy accepted that time had ran out, he went to the police station with Dylan, where they both confessed to covering up Ray’s death. They were charged with perverting the course of justice and soon enough, they’ll learn if they will go to prison.

In upcoming episodes, Paddy discovers that April is going to be called at the trial to give evidence for the prosecution.

Despite her innocence, April knows her testimony will be picked apart when she takes to the stand. If her anxiety gets the better of her, there’s a very real chance she will inadvertently play a part in sending Dylan to prison.

As the trial edges closer, the emotional strain gripping everyone involved begins to spiral into something far more destructive than anyone anticipated. For April Windsor, the looming courtroom appearance is not just another hurdle—it is a moment that could define the rest of her life. The thought of standing in front of a judge, a jury, and a room full of strangers, all waiting for her to speak the truth, sends waves of panic through her already fragile state of mind.

At home, April tries to maintain a sense of normality, but it quickly becomes clear that she is unraveling. Sleepless nights, trembling hands, and an overwhelming sense of dread follow her wherever she goes. Her family notices the change almost immediately. Marlon, desperate to protect his daughter, does everything he can to reassure her, but even his comforting words fail to quiet the storm building inside her. Rhona, too, steps in, urging April to remember that telling the truth is the right thing to do—but the situation is far more complicated than that.

Because the truth doesn’t just expose what happened with Ray and Celia. It also places Dylan directly in the line of fire.

Meanwhile, Dylan is facing his own emotional battle. Though he has already confessed to his role in covering up Ray’s death, the reality of what lies ahead hasn’t fully sunk in—until now. Watching April struggle with the weight of her upcoming testimony fills him with guilt. He knows that no matter what happens, she is the one who will suffer the most in that courtroom.

In a quiet, heartbreaking moment, Dylan tries to distance himself from April, believing it might make things easier for her when the time comes to testify. But the plan backfires. Instead of creating emotional space, it leaves April feeling abandoned and even more vulnerable. She begins to question everything—their relationship, her own decisions, and whether she has the strength to go through with what’s expected of her.

Elsewhere, Paddy is consumed by guilt. His decision to confess may have been the morally right one, but it has set off a chain reaction that now threatens to destroy multiple lives. Watching both April and Dylan suffer, Paddy starts to doubt whether coming clean was worth the cost. Bear, on the other hand, is drowning in remorse. His moment of violence—the act that started it all—replays in his mind endlessly, each time reminding him that everything happening now is because of him.

As the trial finally begins, tensions reach a breaking point.

The courtroom atmosphere is suffocating. Every glance, every whispered conversation, every movement feels amplified under the weight of what’s at stake. April sits outside, waiting to be called, her heart pounding so loudly she can barely hear anything else. When her name is finally spoken, time seems to slow down.

Walking into the courtroom, she feels the eyes of everyone on her. Her gaze briefly meets Dylan’s, and in that moment, everything becomes painfully real. This is it. There is no turning back.

Taking the stand, April’s voice trembles as she begins to speak. The prosecution guides her gently at first, allowing her to explain how she became entangled with Ray and Celia. She recounts the manipulation, the fear, and the desperation that drove her into a world she never should have been part of. Her words paint a vivid picture of vulnerability—a young girl exploited and pushed to the brink.

But then the questioning shifts.

The defense begins to probe deeper, focusing on inconsistencies, pressing her on details, and subtly suggesting that her account may not be entirely reliable. Each question feels like an attack, chipping away at her confidence. April starts to falter. Her breathing quickens, her thoughts become jumbled, and the courtroom begins to blur around her.

Dylan watches helplessly as the person he cares about most struggles under the pressure. Every instinct in him screams to protect her, but he can do nothing. He is forced to sit there, knowing that her words—no matter how unintentional—could seal his fate.

And then it happens.

In a moment of confusion, April says something that changes everything. A small detail, almost insignificant on the surface, but one that directly contradicts part of Dylan’s earlier statement. The courtroom reacts instantly. The prosecution seizes the opportunity, while the defense presses even harder.

April realizes what she’s done, but it’s too late to take it back.

Tears stream down her face as she tries to correct herself, to explain, to make them understand—but the damage is already done. The doubt has been planted, and in a trial like this, doubt can be devastating.

When April finally steps down from the stand, she is completely broken. The weight of what just happened crashes down on her all at once. She doesn’t need anyone to tell her—she knows. She may have just played a part in sending Dylan to prison.

Back in the gallery, emotions run high. Marlon rushes to comfort his daughter, while Paddy sits in stunned silence, grappling with the consequences of everything that has unfolded. Bear can barely bring himself to look at anyone, consumed by shame.

As the trial continues, the tension only intensifies. Legal arguments, witness testimonies, and closing statements all build toward the inevitable verdict. But for April and Dylan, the outcome already feels painfully clear.

In the final moments before the decision is announced, Dylan looks over at April one last time. There is no anger in his expression—only a quiet, heartbreaking acceptance. He knows she never meant for things to turn out this way.

And that is what makes it all the more tragic.

Because sometimes, in a world where truth is supposed to set people free, it can also be the very thing that tears them apart.

As the judge prepares to deliver the verdict, the entire courtroom holds its breath. Lives hang in the balance, and no matter what happens next, nothing will ever be the same again in Emmerdale.
