A CORONATION Street star is celebrating a new role that is worlds away from the cobbles.

Actress Harriet Bibby, who plays the role of Summer Spellman on the ITV soap, has revealed her latest venture, as her co-stars rushed to support her.

The actress, 27, has revealed she has been starring in the one woman play called My Name is Rachel Corrie.

Even though the title would suggest otherwise, the show has nothing to do with Coronation Street, and couldn’t be further from her character of Summer.

In fact the play is about the life of an activist, who worked with the people of Gaza until her death in 2003.

Harriet brought the character to life at Manchester‘s 53two theatre and took the time to thank those involved.

“I’ve been on quite the journey telling Rachel’s story,” the star penned on Instagram.

“What a privilege it has been, to speak Rachel’s words, to work with incredible people and to share this story with every audience who came to listen.

“Thank you @ijkershaw what a JOY to work with you, and @grantarcher, @becxharrison and @jhesmondhalgh, the @takebacktheatre team – alongside @ge0rgemiller – You are all superstars.”

Harriet’s co-stars rushed to praise her, with former onscreen dad Daniel Brocklebank writing: “You were wonderful darling.”

While Toyah Battersby star Georgia Taylor said: “Knocked my socks off darling. As I knew you would. Keep being [the] brilliant, open, beautiful, inquisitive you.”

Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe in the soap, called her performance “wonderful”.

It comes after The Sun previously revealed that Harriet had signed a new contract with Corrie, following he popularity on the soap.

Last June she was handed a brand new 12-month deal to keep her on the programme well into 2026.

Summer has proved a real fan favourite on the programme and so it was a no-brainer for bosses to lock her down and keep her on the nation’s favourite street.

A source told The Sun at the time: “Harriet is a real asset to the show and extremely well liked.”

It comes after Harriet’s character’s on-screen dad, vicar Billy, waved goodbye to the soap earlier this year.

Confirming his exit, actor Daniel Brocklebank said: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.

“I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.

“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.”

In an emotional post, Harriet said of the soap star leaving Corrie: “What an adventure we had! [heart emoji] I love you loads x”.

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
