Coronation Street fans see opposition to Theo Silverton escalate tonight as he springs a secret wedding on Todd Grimshaw. Although things are looking bleak for Todd, can his loved ones rally round to help him?

Wednesday’s episode sees Theo carry out his most shocking plan yet, as he unexpectedly arrives at the undertakers and whisks Todd off on a secret mission.

The next thing poor Todd knows, he’s being led into a registry office while blindfolded. Theo then unleashes his big surprise – their wedding was never cancelled, so they can exchange vows there and then.

Gary Windass and Maria Connor are on hand as witnesses, having been let in on the secret. But the rest of Todd’s loved ones are oblivious to what’s happening – and that’s where things get tricky later on…

In upsetting scenes, a shell-shocked Todd recites his vows as if in a trance, clearly overwhelmed by Theo’s latest manipulation. Before he knows it, the registrar declares them a married couple.

Back at The Rovers, the recriminations begin as Theo and Todd announce their “happy” news.

George Shuttleworth, Christina Boyd, Summer Spellman and Sarah Platt are all upset at being kept in the dark by Theo, as they would have loved to witness Todd’s wedding.

With Theo’s manipulative side becoming increasingly clear, is this the beginning of the end for him?

“Not to make this all about us, but I imagine Todd would have wanted us there,” Summer notes in a quiet moment with George.

“Even as the witnesses,” George agrees. “Maybe Todd didn’t get a say in it…”

Later, George shares similar sentiments with Christina as he laments the fact that Todd was rushed down the aisle.

“You make it sound like he forced him to marry him,” Christina says.

“Maybe he did,” George replies.

Is George starting to uncover the true nature of Todd and Theo’s relationship?
