On the May 1 episode of Days of our Lives, Alex found a novel that Stephanie had been secretly writing. She helpfully labeled it One Stormy Night: A Novel by Stephanie Johnson. For some reason, she printed it out, bound it, and then left it lying around. The soap also mentioned it again on the May 7 episode. We don’t know what Stephanie has planned for this project, but we do wonder what DAYS might have planned for it.

Tie-In Types
If DAYS plans to publish One Stormy Night in the “real” world, they wouldn’t be the first to do so. Back in 1984, when Another World’s romance novelist, Felicia Gallant (Linda Dano), penned “Dreamweaver,” a story based on Bay City gossip, the book was released as an actual romance novel. Marci Walsh (Kathy Brier) wrote the murder mystery, “The Killing Club” for One Life to Live, Molly Lansing Davis told a coming of age story with “Love in Maine” on General Hospital, and Kendall Hart (Alicia Minshew) tried her hand at some All My Children chick lit, Charm!
As It Happens
But, wait, there’s more! GH also gave the world Robin’s Diary and The Secret Life of Damian Spinnelli. Passions cleverly combined the two to offer fans a glimpse at Hidden Passions: Secrets from the Diaries of Tabitha Lennox.
Personal and Private
And then there are the books I wrote, Oakdale Confidential and The Man From Oakdale for As the World Turns, and Jonathan’s Story for Guiding Light. All those books, along with the ones above, were best-sellers, proving, once and for all, the power and passion of the soap opera audience.
Recently, we were surprised when The Young and the Restless opted not to release the book Traci (Beth Maitland) wrote using Cane (Daniel Goddard) as inspiration, despite dramatizing some scenes on-screen. DAYS appears to have no plans to make Stephanie’s book a reality, which would be an opportunity missed, in our opinion.
