EastEnders‘ Kat and Zoe Slater are finally reunited next week – on the exact spot the pair had their iconic “You ain’t my mother” showdown some 24 years ago.
A lot has changed for Kat since the pair last laid eyes on each other, but it seems more has changed for her daughter, as this is a very different Zoe from the one who left Walford two decades previously.

As Zoe’s secrets are uncovered in an explosive run of episodes next week, prepare to be shocked as this blockbuster reunion plays out.
It’s Kat’s son Tommy who tracks down his big sister and brings her home. As the week begins, Tommy is missing following a bust-up with Kat, so his mum is frantic with worry over her son.

In scenes that will air on Monday 1 September, she and Alfie Moon continue their panicked attempts to get in touch with Tommy, and the pair begin to fear that their teenage boy will never return to Walford.
Kat’s overcome with relief, then, when she gets a message from Tommy telling her that he’s outside.
However, it’s not just one child she’s reunited with, but two. As Kat rushes out to greet her son, she is stopped in her tracks to see Zoe. How will she feel to be face-to-face with her daughter after all this time?

The last few months have seen Alfie and Stacey Slater desperately trying to track down Zoe after she burst into Stacey’s life earlier this summer, before disappearing as quickly as she arrived.
The pair had kept what they were up to a secret from Kat, knowing that it would kill her to know that Zoe had been so close but she didn’t get to see her.

Zoe has been adamant about not wanting her mum to know she was back, almost to the point of hysteria, but without giving a solid reason – and this is one of the mysteries that will be explored on Zoe’s return.

This reunion certainly won’t be smooth sailing, as we see Kat come to realise that her daughter has changed a lot during these missing years. Just what has happened to Zoe while she has been away from Walford?
