Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor supported as she sends ‘grateful’ message after move with rarely-seen son
Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor has been flooded with more messages of support as she shared that she was ‘grateful’ for backing she’d already received amid a major personal move.
The actress, best known for playing Weatherfield legend Sally Metcalfe – nee Webster – in the ITV soap, revealed earlier this year that she and her son, Sam, were preparing for a huge challenge.
On Instagram, Sally shared at the time: “My son Sam and I have some news! We will be climbing the world’s tallest freestanding mountain, Kilimanjaro in September for @preventbreastcancer.
“It will be 16 years since my diagnosis. Like so many other families, we never thought this would happen to us, but it did. Help us break the cycle of breast cancer. Anything you can donate would go directly to @preventbreastcancer. JustGiving link in bio.”
The charity challenge comes after Sally had her own experience of breast cancer. She was told she had the disease in November 2009, at the same time was filming heartbreaking Corrie scenes, which saw her much-loved character reeling from the news that she had the same disease.
It is this November that it’ll be 16 years since the 62-year-old was diagnosed and in the same month, Sally be joined by her son for the previously-mentioned trek up the dormant Tanzanian volcano, which is the highest free-standing mountain above sea level in the world, at 5,895m.
Having shared updates along the way, Sally has now issued a thank you message to those who have donated to her fundraiser and showed thier support so far.
She also shared photos of her late friend Morag Sillar, a Scottish actress who died from breast cancer, and her previous challenges and said: “The inspiration for these challenges will always be our friend Morag Sillar. Taken far too soon.”
She continued: “I’m so grateful to the amazing cast and crew and to everyone who has donated. Your encouragement means the world. Every bit of support will keep us climbing higher for @preventbreastcancer THANK YOU.”
And fans rushed to show Sally their support. @guinevere1981 said: “A class act. Wonderful actress. You must miss her dreadfully.”
@allisonliverpool7 commented: “You are doing a fantastic challenge Sally and me being a survivor of breast cancer am eternally grateful for all your efforts. You yourself are an inspiration to us all.” @nancyhovhanesian added: “This is beautiful…what an inspiration.”
