UNFORESEEN CONSEQUENCES!! Two left to die in Coronation Street as lives destroyed by allegations

There’s a deadly and explosive week to come in Coronation Street as a fire rages through the Platt house, leaving lives on the line. And, following that, accusations are flying and questions need answered.

In fact, danger strikes even before the blaze, with a scary showdown between Abi Webster (Sally Carman) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) leading to the latter being left in a bad way.

But it’s not just Toyah who is in serious peril, with the fire leading to an explosion while Max Turner (played by departing Paddy Bever) caught right in the blast.

In the aftermath, David (Jack P Shepherd) comes under suspicion instantly given his money issues.

However, when matches are found on a hungover Leanne (Jane Danson), the situation takes an unexpected turn…

As David makes a call to Andy to arrange a time for their plan, Nick reminds him that it’s Sarah’s birthday party, unaware that Logan is listening in.

Sarah tells Nick she’s worried Harvey will get wind of all of the Platts in the one place and will be a sitting target. Going ahead with his plan, David lies to Sarah that he’s at a client’s house and won’t be attending her party.

When Sam suggests Abi brings Alfie to Sarah’s party after his recent ordeal in the car, Abi is furious to realise it was Toyah who reported her.

After finding Harry in the bistro office watching Hope’s live stream of a seance from No.8 with Ruby, Lily and Sam, Toyah bursts in and orders the kids out.

Hearing about the livestream from Jack, Abi lets herself in and rounds on Toyah for calling social services. As Toyah accidentally knocks over a bottle of red wine, Abi is reminded of Seb covered in blood and suffers a panic attack.

Toyah reaches out to Abi but in her confused state, Abi smacks her. Someone approaches No.8 and pushes a lit rag through the letterbox. After smelling burning, Sally announces the fire to the bistro. Worried that Lily may be in the house, Shona, Max and Nick head in.

Nick finds Toyah unconscious on the floor as Shona and Max head upstairs. Finding out Lily is safe, Shona finds David on the street and tells him that Max is trapped. As they head back up the path, suddenly No.8 explodes.

When Tracy reveals that she can’t get hold of Amy, Steve thinks she spent the night at the party. Leanne tries to persuade Steve to join her for a boozy afternoon, but is left disappointed when he’s not keen.

Amy explains to Steve and Tracy that she left several messages but her phone died, lost her car keys and spent the night wandering the streets as a guilty Steve makes out he had an early night.

As the fire engine and ambulance arrive, Kit explains to the paramedic that Toyah suffered smoke inhalation and also has a head wound.

When Leanne approaches to check on Toyah, Nick realises she’s drunk and sends her packing. One of the firefighters comes across Max’s lifeless body and as they lift Max into the ambulance, a distraught David climbs in with him.

When Shona quizzes David about the fire, he promises her he had nothing to do with it and he was with an old mate.

Lauren joins Shona in the waiting room as Kit arrives, confirms it was arson and David tells him that Logan is clearly responsible for the fire.

At the hospital, a distraught David tells Shona that it’s his fault and he wishes he’d never stolen the money.

Hoping for news of Toyah, Leanne joins Nick in the hospital waiting room. As Nick accuses her of starting the fire, Leanne assures him she had nothing to do with it. As Leanne looks for her purse in her coat pocket, she finds a box of matches.

Having failed to find Abi, Debbie voices her suspicions to Kevin. Abi collects her things but when she hears Kevin and Debbie entering, she heads out the back.

Having taken a call from Wendy informing him that Abi collected Alfie an hour ago and seemed on edge, Kevin is left fearing for the worst.

In the Rovers, Jenny sets up a drop-off point for donations for the Platts.

Wednesday February 5

Andy calls at the salon looking for David but when Sarah offers to pass on a message, Andy exchanges a look with Todd and leaves.

Todd explains that Andy was an old prison mate of Paul who did time for insurance fraud and they met at Paul’s rave. Sarah and Nick find David and angrily tell him about the visit from Andy, convinced he must have used him for his insurance scam expertise.

Under interview, David tells Kit that he was in Denton with Andy Garland at the time of the fire but when Kit reveals that Andy claims not to have seen David, Kit places him under arrest.

Abi is missing and Kevin has an admission to make

Kevin admits to Debbie that one of the jerry-cans is missing from the garage and after reviewing the CCTV footage, he spies a hooded figure searching for one.

Abi confesses to Kevin how she’s been suffering hallucinations and sees Seb everywhere she looks.

Steve rounds on Leanne for making out she was at Oliver’s grave when the fire broke out but Leanne admits that she can’t remember where she was because she was completely wasted, saw Toyah heading into No.8 and then it’s a blur until she woke up in Victoria Garden with a box of matches in her pocket. When Steve advises Leanne to talk to the police, will she agree?

Carla tells Lisa that they’re running the tests to find out if Rob’s kidney is a match and if it is, she’ll need to pay a deposit.

Carla visits Rob and tells him that he’ll be tested in the prison to see if he’s a suitable donor but Rob’s annoyed, having assumed that he would be required to go to hospital.
