Coronation Street star Sydney Martin looked beautiful as she shared a glimpse of herself attending a very important family wedding.
The actress is best known for playing Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, having made her debut in the summer fo 2024. The teen made her first appearance in Weatherfield last summer, popping up simply as Sabrina Adetiba’s mate.
But, it wasn’t long before it was revealed, amidst the grooming storyline with the late Joel Deering, that Betsy is DS Lisa Swain’s daughter, who she shares with late partner, Becky.
It marked Sydney’s big break and she recently marked a whole year in the role and shared a sweet message on social media. In a photo shared to her Instagram page, she could be seen beaming for the camera as she held onto a cake with a ‘1’ candle burning on the top.
Alongside the post, the 23-year-old soap star gushed: “1 whole year of Betsy Swain. So incredibly lucky & grateful. I [love] my job.”
Away from her work on the cobbles, Sydney is often seen sharing life updates and keeping her loyal following update on what she’s up to on social media.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday evening (August 24), the soap star shared a special update as she revealed her mum had tied the knot.

She started by sharing a mirror selfie with her followers, in which she could be seen sporting a floral pyjama set under a green silk gown, with her hair already styled into a curly half-up, half-down do, while sporting a pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet set.
Alongside the post, Sydney shared: “My mumma got married!” It was then the next post which showed Sydney, sporting a pastel green bridesmaid dress, that she was seen alongside the beaming bride.
When joining Corrie, Sydney, from Rossendale, told how she brilliantly let her former employers know about her first-ever TV role before her family.
The 23-year-old is from an acting family and told the Manchester Evening News at the time how she had dreams of becoming a zoo keeper before getting into drama in sixth form. “I loved doing shows as a kid.

“I was really shy but when I was on the stage, I loved it. I didn’t know it was a career you could go into which is silly because people do it. But I got into sixth form and had the most amazing drama teachers who I owe everything to and I was like, why not give it a shot.”
She later got into drama school, with much of her training taking place during the Covid pandemic before her graduation in 2023. Sydney got the call about landing the role of Betsy while preparing to settle down and watch Pitch Perfect 3 with her flatmates.
“I got a phone call, ran into the corner of a flat and was like, ‘It’s going to be a no, keep watching. Just let me have my moment!’ But my agent phoned me and said, ‘Go hand in your notice!’ I was doing six days a week at Tesco which is quite the career change!”
On telling her parents, Sydney admitted: “I did go to Tesco and hand my notice in first!” before sharing how her dad was concerned she’d quit her job and whether she’d need a reference from the supermarket chain.
She added: “They were overjoyed. They always say they don’t know where I got my creative bones from because they’re in completely different careers… I could not have asked for a better first opportunity. They’re by biggest fans. They’re over the moon. I had my first little picture in a magazine and they’ve got about ten of them.”
