What Actually Happened in 2007?
We were taken back to 2007, when violent Kit and Mick were as close as two siblings. When the shoplifting of a corner shop got out of hand, it became clear that a confrontation was inevitable. Having been insulted by the shopkeeper, Mick‘s family, Kit encouraged him to respond, and shoved a lit firework through the letterbox, which ignited a fire that burned the wife of the shopkeeper.

When the law came calling, Kit fled. Mick didn‘t. He was arrested, bundled off to a Secure Training Centre, and made to bear the burden himself. That was the wake-up call, not just for Mick‘s destiny, but for Kit‘s career. He went on to become a police officer, while his best friend brooded in prison.
The past collided with the present on Coronation Street this week, as a hotly anticipated flashback episode at last revealed the secrets that tied Mick, Lou, and Kit together.

With tensions reaching boiling point in Weatherfield, one detective‘s life was upended as a decision from three decades earlier came back to haunt him, with life-altering repercussions.
Kit‘s Guilt Emerges in Coronation Street
Later, Bernie approached her son face-to-face, believing that Mick had something on him. Kit eventually owned up to what occurred many years before, that he had fled and allowed Mick to take the blame. But the greatest shock was yet to come.

Lou burst into Kit‘s flat, demanding to know what had gone on. She threatened that Mick could discover what went on “inside“ and appeared on the brink of saying something herself.
Flashbacks revealed Lou and Kit becoming intimate while Mick was in prison. Lou had feared Mick would “kill them“ when he found out what they’d been up to as a teenager.

When Kit subsequently eavesdropped on Lou and Mick talking about their son Brody‘s birthday, he did the arithmetic. The chronology worked, and Kit had the gut-punching realization that he could be Brody‘s biological father.
What Happens Next?
Kit‘s whole life has been turned upside down. Not only is he wracked with guilt for allowing Mick to languish in the STC, but now he suspects the teen wreaking havoc on Weatherfield may be his child.
With tensions running high, the repercussions of this discovery are guaranteed to be explosive. Can Kit maintain the secret? Will Lou validate his suspicions? And what will happen when Mick inevitably discovers the truth?
