EastEnders is known for its explosive yuletide episodes and the soap has a history of delivering unforgettable twists during the holiday season.

Now fans can revisit the unforgettable scene when Den hands Angie divorce papers in 1986, the shocking reveal of Max and Stacey’s affair in 2007, and the nail-biting fallout of Keanu’s murder in 2023.

This year’s Christmas episode promises another bombshell.

Soap bosses have revealed that Cindy’s affair with Junior is set to be exposed.

Beyond that, the Sun revealed that a shocking death that will leave the Carter family bereaved is also coming.

Exclusive photos from the set show grieving members of the Carter family gathering around a white coffin, with Johnny appearing particularly affected.

The casket – which has a pink rose on top – is being held by Lee Carter as Danny Hatchard reprises his role three years after leaving Albert Square.EastEnders 2013 - 2017 - 2015: 01/01/2015 - BBC iPlayer

Walford policeman Callum Highway – and close friend of the Carter family – is also snapped in the proceedings.

Maddy Hill has also been spotted on location as she returns as Mick and Linda’s feisty daughter Nancy.

Some fans think this will be the conclusion to the storyline that kicked off last December when the Six colluded in Keanu’s murder.

EastEnders’ original Martin Fowler actor launches his own theatre in the West End 18 years after leaving Albert Square

A few have speculated that the guilt becomes too great for Linda to bear and she kills herself this Christmas, on the anniversary of when she stabbed Keanu.

Meanwhile, others think this is a red herring and that it is actually Shirley Carter who will be killed off.
