Coronation Street is set to air a huge betrayal for Abi Webster (Sally Carman) next week as she gives in to temptation with brother-in-law Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).
In forthcoming Corrie scenes, tensions in the Webster household are set to rise as a stressed out Abi makes a discovery. The drama kicks off when she tells Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) that she’s planning on telling stepson Jack (Kyran Bowes) that Kevin’s (Michael Le Vell) cancer treatment isn’t working. But in a surprise twist, Tyrone assures her that Kevin is actually fine.
Abi confronts Kevin, who apologises and admits he thought lying about his cancer would stop her leaving him for Carl. Abi can’t bear to look at her husband Kevin, leaving the house and heading straight into Carl’s arms. She insists she’s done with Kevin as she and Carl kiss passionately, but it appears her decision isn’t set in stone.
Actrss Sally Carman, 44, first arrived in Weatherfield as drug addict Abi Franklin in 2017, but before joining the ITV soap she starred in a huge Channel 4 sitcom.
Sally had her TV debut on police procedural drama City Central in 1998. She subsequently landed roles in long-running shows including Doctors, Heartbeat and Holby City.
Her big break, however, came as prostitute Kelly Maguire in Shameless. The character was introduced in 2005 and remained on the show until its final season in 2013.
The character’s storylines on the Channel 4 series included tension with her future husband’s family at the start of the relationship and later experiencing a phantom pregnancy.
The role saw Sally take part in several raunchy sex scenes whilst part of the comedy drama series.
Whilst her character may be in the middle of a complicated situation romantically, the same can’t be said for Sally off-screen, who is married to Joe Duttine, 55.
Joe plays Tim Metcalfe on the ITV soap, and interestingly, the pair had both appeared in Shameless, with him having played Cameron Donnelly in the comedy-drama series.
The couple began dating in 2018 and moved in together the following year. They took things to the next level when they announced in 2020 that they were engaged, after going into lockdown together.
They confirmed their happy news just days after the Coronation Street set was shut down in the wake of the pandemic. Joe shared a photo of him and Sally toasting their happy news—and her stunning emerald ring on clear display.
The couple finally tied the knot in July 2022 after delaying their wedding several times due to the pandemic.
