Emmerdale has confirmed a huge life change for Robert Sugden, after his dramatic return to the village.
Robert found himself back behind bars again after his attempt to stop Aaron’s wedding last month meant he missed his probation meeting.
While in prison, Aaron, John and Victoria, all told Robert to stay away from the village – but he didn’t take the advice and when he was released earlier this week, his first visit was to his ex-husband, to make it clear that he’d be sticking around.
Robert is staying with his sister Victoria, and in today’s episode he admitted that he had been suffering from nightmares following his prison ordeal.

Victoria was concerned that her brother blamed her for what he went through in jail due to his crime coming about after he was protecting her, and she suggested that he’d be more successful trying to build a new life if he moved away from the village.
But Robert insisted that starting again somewhere else as an ex-con would be even more difficult, but he promised that he’d leave Aaron alone and set about finding a new job.
His first stop was at the depot, where he introduced himself to Caleb and explained that he used to do business at Home Farm so had lots of good contacts.

While Robert said he could be an asset to the business, he soon realised that Cain had already informed Caleb all about him.
Even without Cain’s information, Caleb wasn’t impressed with Robert due to him trying to wreck his nephew’s wedding and he said he didn’t want to work with someone who made rash choices.
It looked like a job offer was firmly off the table, but later the pair headed to the pub – where Robert told Aaron and John that Caleb had offered him a trial.

This is a huge blow for jealous John, as it means that Robert will be staying in the village permanently and will continue his plan to bring him down.
But could a certain incident later in the episode harm Robert’s attempt to rebuild his life?
