Yellowstone’s 6666: What’s Really Going On With the Long-Awaited Spinoff?
For years, Yellowstone fans have been waiting for 6666, the Texas-set spinoff centered on the legendary Four Sixes Ranch. The excitement is understandable.
The series was officially announced by Paramount in February 2021 as part of Taylor Sheridan’s expanding TV universe, and in May 2022 it was moved from Paramount+ to Paramount Network. That alone made it feel like a major priority. But despite all the hype, the truth is more complicated than many fan videos suggest: there is still no officially released trailer, no confirmed premiere date, and no full cast announcement from Paramount.

That silence is exactly why the rumors keep exploding. Every scrap of news gets treated like a breakthrough, every fan-made teaser gets mistaken for an official preview, and every casting theory turns into “confirmation” online. But the most credible updates point in the opposite direction.
In late 2025, coverage noted that Paramount still had not publicly clarified the show’s active status, and The Hollywood Reporter described 6666 as effectively on hold in early 2026. Even Jefferson White, who plays Jimmy, reportedly said he had no confirmed production update and was basically “keeping his fingers crossed.”
What is clear is why fans are so invested. The Four Sixes setup inside Yellowstone worked. Jimmy Hurdstrom’s move to Texas in Season 4 became one of the franchise’s most satisfying character arcs, transforming him from a screwup into someone who finally looked like he belonged in the ranching world.
By the time Yellowstone wrapped, Jimmy’s life at the Four Sixes had already become a natural launchpad for a spinoff, and later coverage also pointed out that Teeter’s move to Texas in the finale looked like another clear breadcrumb toward the same series. That is why Jimmy remains the most obvious emotional center of 6666, even if Paramount has never formally announced him as the lead. )

The likely tone of the show is also easy to guess, even without official footage. Unlike the Montana war-zone energy of Yellowstone, 6666 was always expected to lean harder into real ranch life, horse training, cattle work, and the day-to-day culture of Texas cowboying. That makes sense because Sheridan’s connection to the ranch is personal: reporting around the project and later franchise coverage tied the show directly to the real Four Sixes Ranch, which Sheridan became part of a group owning in 2022.
In other words, this is not just another fictional backdrop. It is a real place with real mythology, and that gives the show a very different flavor from the Dutton dramas.
As for the cast rumors — especially the idea that major stars like Matthew McConaughey might show up — there is still no official confirmation.
The only consistently grounded names attached in serious coverage remain people already tied to the Four Sixes storyline through Yellowstone, especially Jimmy, Emily, Teeter, and possibly Travis in some form. Everything beyond that is still fan speculation. And that includes most supposed teaser breakdowns making the rounds online.

So here is the honest version: 6666 is one of the most wanted projects in the Yellowstone universe, but right now it is still more promise than product. There is no official trailer to dissect yet, no locked release date to circle on the calendar, and no full cast reveal to celebrate.
What there is, however, is a very strong setup, a beloved character in Jimmy, a fan-favorite world in Texas, and just enough silence from Paramount to keep everyone watching closely. And in the world of Taylor Sheridan, sometimes that kind of silence means the biggest move has not been revealed yet.
