Coronation Street fans have been quick to hail a ‘return’ in the long-running show and are keen to have a say in their first move ‘back’ – but it’s not quite as it seems.

Those who follow the ITV soap will know that DS Lisa Swain has had quite a few months in Weatherfield as after struggling to deal with her past, she was, quite literally, rocked by the arrival of her ex-wife, Becky Swain, four years after she was believed to have been killed in the line of duty.

She made her first appearance on her daughter, Betsy Swain’s, 18th birthday and just days after Lisa proposed to Carla Connor, and it soon became clear that her plan was to get her family back, and get Carla out of the picture for good.

Despite Becky’s almost-successful attempts at pulling the couple apart, and convincing Lisa and their daughter, Betsy Swain, to leave the country with her, the villain was stopped in her tracks, thanks to Carla teaming up with Lisa’s colleague, DC Kit Green, before she was kidnapped by Becky.

After Becky’s downfall, which saw her sentenced to 12 years in prison, Lisa was keen to reunite with Carla. While the Underworld factory boss was initially hesitant to forgive, she couldn’t stay away from the love of her life for long and since their reunion, has secured their wedding date.

The big day is scheduled to take place on April 23 at the Chariot Square Hotel, and while it appears their upcoming nuptials will be plain sailing for the two women after quite a dramatic few months for their relationship, their ‘beautiful’ wedding day will end with a shock for Betsy who will discover one of her neighbours dead on the cobbles.

But ahead of that, with fans having to wait a few more weeks, there was a big update for Lisa during Friday’s (February 27) episode of Corrie as she revealed she was finally off desk duties.

Lisa was back off desk duties

The detective sergeant wasn’t able to do the job she was in the Weatherfield Police force to do following Becky’s crimes, but it seems Lisa was found to have been guilty of any wrongdoing herself and was delighted to be back doing the job she knows all too well. “I need to get back to doing what I do best, catching the bad guys,” she told DC Kit Green.

And fans were flocking to social media as they went wild for her return. @JukeTVBox said: “LISA IS BACK TO FULL POLICE DUTIES (and unbuttoned shirt).” @_sammymfs admitted: “Was not expecting to see detective swainey on my screen today what a treat!!” @flissfrost82 noted: “The Swainy is back Swaining #Swarla #Corrie.”
