Emmerdale has confirmed plans for Joe Tate to face the consequences of his illegal kidney-stealing plan.
The ITV soap sparked some controversy this week by airing a story which saw Joe successfully conspire to steal a kidney from his uncle Caleb.
Real-life charity Kidney Research UK criticised the portrayal of organ theft as “implausible” and “dangerous”, and expressed fears that it could undermine public confidence in the transplant system.
In response, an Emmerdale spokesperson told us: “Joe Tate’s desperate actions are not being held up as an example and as with any soap villain he will ultimately get his comeuppance.”
Fans see the first signs of trouble next week, as Cain vows to find out the truth about Caleb’s recent stabbing.

Home and Away films Irene’s exit

Lynne has made the decision to bow out from the Aussie soap to pursue other acting opportunities.
The good news is that Irene will remain on screen for many more months, due to the show filming so far in advance and the ongoing transmission gap between the UK and Australia.
Lynne said this week: “I’ve had the ride of my life. And I love each and every one of you so much: The cast – Ray, Georgie, Emily, Shane, Ada, James, all the young’uns.
“The art department, the writers, everybody – there’s so many unsung heroes. This show is made up of so many parts.
“You’re all amazing, and it’s been my great privilege to work with each and every one of you. I’m touched, I’m humbled and I’m so honoured. Thank you so much.”
