EASTENDERS fans left scratching their heads as beloved character disappears from Walford – with no explanation in sight!

Viewers of the BBC soap are demanding answers after the shock absence of Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) while the Mitchells are in turmoil.

The Mitchell family have been struggling after Phil’s (Steve McFadden) attempted suicide and being hospitalised.

Last night’s episode saw Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) ask questions about where her granddad is.

After finding the letters Phil wrote to his loved ones to saying goodbye, Lexi was finally told the truth.

But where is her stepdad Jay Brown?

Taking to Reddit, frustrated fans pointed out the missing character and lack of explanation during such a major storyline.

One wrote: “Anyone else noticed he [Jay] seems to of just disappeared, I think the last time he was on screen was when he had that conversation with Phil in his house a few weeks back.”

Another added: “He’s been starved of screentime for absolutely ages now which irritates me because he’s one of my favourites and Jamie is a fantastic actor.”

A third penned: “I’ve noticed a lot of actors are missing since Christmas. It’s been the same handful on our screens.”

Jamie’s absence was due to embarking on a nation arena tour with his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars.

He wowed fans on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing, finishing in seventh place with pro partner Michelle Tsiakkas.

The couple took the Strictly show on the road earlier this year, wrapping up their tour on February 9.

So fans can expect to see Jay back in Walford next month!
