Facing every parent’s worst fear, Coronation Street’s Shona (Julia Goulding) and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) struggle to stay strong as Baby Harper is rushed into hospital to receive life-saving surgery, oblivious to the danger amongst them…
What should have been a wonderful and exciting journey for the beloved Corrie couple was tinged with tragedy when they discovered their unborn baby had developed a cancerous tumour on her neck.
This could only be treated with surgery that could risk Shona’s life, placing husband and wife in a heart breaking dilemma. Despite the challenges, they weathered the storm as a couple and decided to go through with having Baby Harper, who was born shortly after the Corriedale crash.
While going through such a harrowing ordeal, the last thing the Platts need is a certain scheming cuckoo in the nest plotting against them. Enter Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), Shona’s devious half-sister.
Sadly, the jeopardy to Harper’s health didn’t stop there. She was born prematurely, requiring NICU care and a planned operation on March 4th to remove the tumour.

Weatherfield’s newest resident arrived in Shona’s life when she needed her most, and has supported the Platts in their time of need. Or at least, that’s what she wants them to believe.
In reality, Jodie blames Shona for running away from home as a teenager and abandoning her to their abusive father. While teen mum Shona had very little choice at the time, Jodie doesn’t see it like that.
The twisted sister is on a mission to steal Shona’s place in the household, pouring poison in the ear of her step-daughter Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) about what a bad mum Shona is, while taking every chance to spend ‘quality time’ with David.

So far, Jodie has concealed her true intention with a web of lies that would make Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) blush. She fed Shona and David a sob story about escaping from an abusive relationship, when in fact she attended a support group for domestic abuse survivors just to make the whole act more convincing.
The truth is that Jodie escaped from the back of Emmerdale villain Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) van in the Corriedale crash. Whatever her true history, Jodie is a dangerous presence who’s been doing everything she can to steal Shona’s life and helping with baby Harper is just another way to endear herself to the Platt clan.
Now with Harper’s operation scheduled for March the 4th, upcoming episodes will see David and Shona worried sick over their daughter, blind to the danger Jodie poses.
As the doctors and nurses prepare Harper for her operation, Jodie encourages the Platts to come to hospital and lend their support. Suddenly, David and Shona are plunged into panic when they find out that Harper has suffered a minor bleed.

The family tries to rally round, but a fraught David loses his temper and orders them to all to get out. Not missing a chance to get close to her half-sister’s man, Jodie hugs David tenderly before leaving…
On her way out, Jodie passes a new mum who mistakes Jodie for Harper’s mum and assumes that David is her husband. Will Jodie put her straight?
