Coronation Street nearly split up Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) for good with a psychopathic ex-girlfriend.
Now the beloved couple face a fresh challenge to their relationship…and it needs its nappy changing.
It’s been a bit of a rough patch for Swarla of late. Last year, the no-nonsense cobbles copper, Detective Inspector Lisa Swain, almost lost her girlfriend for good, which tends to happen when your ex is as mad as a box of frogs.
The bunny-boiling Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) conspired to win back Lisa and their daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) and take Carla of the picture… even if that meant locking her in an airing cupboard.
Things came to a head during the Corriedale crash, where Carla valiantly saved her girlfriend and step-daughter from the clutches of psycho Swain, who was finally brought to justice for her many crimes.
But Becky got the last laugh when Carla was heartbroken to hear that Lisa had given into temptation and slept with her ex.

While Carla was heartbroken by the betrayal, she was still clearly in love with Lisa. Fortunately, the Queen of Underworld finally gave into her feelings after a few heartfelt gestures, and a romantic reunion in the Rovers. Aww…
Pretty soon, wedding bells were ringing as Carla surprised Lisa by booking their big day at the Chariot Square Hotel, for once, it appears their upcoming nuptials will go off without a hitch…until of course, it doesn’t.
Coronation Street bosses revealed that the happiest day of Carla and Lisa’s lives will end with murder when poor Betsy discovers one of her neighbours dead on the cobbles.
Just in case that wasn’t enough drama, Corrie writers have decided to throw a baby into the mix for good measure. Upcoming episodes will see Carla and Lisa discover a tiny tot abandoned on their doorstep… and it wasn’t left by the stork.

When Carla opens the door, she is shocked to find a baby in a car seat. Lisa spots a woman hurrying away and races after her only to discover that the baby is Connie, the daughter of Carla’s murdering brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
The Connor siblings have a history that makes the Addams’ family seem well-adjusted. Growing up in a toxic household with a drug-dealing mother and an abusive stepfather, Carla’s deep bond with Rob was broken beyond repair by his criminal activities and murderous temper.
This reached a boiling point when Rob murdered Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) in a desperate attempt to protect his sister from the fallout of Peter Barlow’s (Chris Gascoyne) affair.
Although Carla initially promised to keep his secret, the guilt became too much and she ultimately called the police on her own brother during his wedding day to Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), leading to his 25-year prison sentence.
It was during his time inside that Rob made the acquaintance of a corrupt prison guard called Mandy Waring (Rebecca Atkinson), who he had a relationship with.

Their romance ended on a sour note when Rob agreed to be a kidney donor to Carla when she contracted sepsis, only to use the surgery as an excuse to escape.
This escalated into a violent hostage situation in March 2025 where Rob held Carla, Lisa, Mandy and Tracy at gunpoint, leading to the tragic accidental shooting of Betsy. Rob was subsequently apprehended and returned to prison.
However, it turns out that Mandy was pregnant and kept baby Connie. The woman bringing her to Carla and Lisa’s doorstep is the grandmother, who needs them to look after the baby while she is in hospital.
Obviously less than keen on the idea of babysitting for her sociopathic baby bro, Carla refuses point blank. But Lisa pulls on her fiancee’s heartstrings as she insists that Carla is still Connie’s auntie. Without her help, the poor kid will end up in care.
