Emmerdale viewers believe they’ve uncovered a prison twist for Aaron Dingle in a jaw-dropping John Sugden revenge storyline.
Aaron (Danny Miller) and John (Oliver Farnworth) tied the knot last month, but their big day was anything but plain sailing.
The wedding was thrown into chaos when Aaron’s ex-husband, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), made an unexpected return to the village after six years, hoping to win Aaron back.
Despite sharing a passionate moment with Robert, Aaron went ahead with his marriage to John, and remains unaware of his new husband’s dark side.
Fans of the soap will recall that John was responsible for Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) death following the barn fire last year. The villain notably administered a mysterious substance to Nate, which proved deadly, reports Belfast Live.
Fast forward eight months, and Nate’s remains were discovered in the lake by the police, with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh) quickly falling under suspicion.
Following Robert’s re-arrest for violating his bail conditions, Aaron visited him in prison this week, confessing that he was the one who tipped off the police weeks earlier.
John then showed up at the prison, menacingly warning his brother that he “has no idea” what he’s capable of.
“What is your big secret, Johnny boy? Let me guess, you weasel around stealing other people’s lives,” Robert said.
“Before this chat, I was willing to let Aaron go and move on, but the more I know you, the more I don’t want you anywhere near him… I’m coming back and I’m gonna make sure Aaron sees what a messed up freak you really are.”
Robert made a jaw-dropping comeback to the village on Thursday (June 19), declaring his plans to settle back in with his loved ones.
On Friday (June 20), Robert set out to restart his life in the Dales by asking Caleb Milligan (William Ash) for a chance to work at the depot.
Caleb, who was initially reluctant to take Robert on board, eventually decided to give him a shot, and the duo ended up heading over to The Woolpack to toast to their new partnership.
“You’ve really screwed things up for us now… You cannot trust a bloke like that, you do know he’s a killer,” John angrily told Caleb, while Aaron chimed in, “He’s right, you can’t trust him.”
As tensions simmered, John expressed to his husband, “He said he’d be back to take me down, and now Caleb has given him the perfect opportunity to do that.”
Despite Robert’s determination to bring John down, several Emmerdale fans believe that it’s Aaron who needs to watch his back.
Many are suspecting that John might frame Aaron for his crimes, like Chrissie White (Louise Marwood) did in her quest for revenge against Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) back in 2016.
One viewer said on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Just had a brainwave. If they do drag it out before John is exposed and continue the parallels of the affair, maybe John will do like Chrissie and frame Aaron for the people he’s killed.”
Another added: “Yes, I could totally see this happening,” while a third shared: “Aaron needs to wake up and realise what John is like!!”
A fourth viewer shared similar thoughts, stating: “If John does turn on Aaron it could mean he goes to prison just as Robert gets out.”
